Chapter 55

I looked to my side but found that I was all alone so it must mean Alexander had woken up and left earlier on. Unaware of the storm going on downstairs, I heard muffled sounds of someone arguing and I could barely make out the words as the whole house is soundproof, I made my way towards the source of the heated voices.

As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I hesitated for a moment, realizing that Alexander, his mother, and Olivia were engaged in a heated argument. A wave of uncertainty washed over me, unsure if I should intervene or retreat quietly. But before I could make a decision, their words reached my ears.

His mother's voice, filled with anger and frustration, cut through the air. "Alexander, you have to choose between her and me. This woman has no place in our family. You know that!"

I felt my heart skip a beat, the air suddenly becoming suffocating. Tears welled up in my eyes as I braced myself for his response.
