CHAPTER 68

I listened to the gentle rhythm of his breathing as he drifted off to sleep. The silence in the room was deafening, each passing second filled with unspoken words. I turned trying hard to fight the urge to reach out, to bridge the gap that had formed between us, but fear and anger held me back.

With a heavy heart, I let myself succumb to the exhaustion that weighed me down. Sleep finally embraced me, carrying me away from the pain and uncertainty that plagued me.
