Aleena's POVThe next morning had gone as any other morning had. Jax and I, along with a few others, were down in the dining hall finishing up with breakfast. I had already mind linked him to tell him that his plan to draw the secret note leaving bitch out was in motion, along with the news about the first boat arriving today. He already had someone make up a list of the first wave of people to leave this place. They were lower on the ladder of status so less likely to be noticed that they were missing, least until the dust started to pile up anyways. Jax stood up and cleared his throat, “Can I have everybody’s attention please?” Everybody went silent and were all staring at him now. “As you all know, I had my chance at a mate. Some of you know how that ended. Second chance mates for our kind is very rare, but I am here to tell you that it has in fact happened.”Jax looked down at me and held out his hand for me to take. I took his hand and put a big smile on my face and stood up nex
Gunner’s POVToday is the day. We are all loading up the busses and trucks and heading over to Iceland. When I left there months ago I never thought, in a million years that I would be heading back so soon. I was getting just one step closer to my mate with every step I took. I was bound and determined to find her and bring her home. I was lost in my own thoughts, daydreaming if we’re being honest, about what I was going to do to my mate when I saw her again. Maddox was not shy about anything and was throwing dirty mental images into my head.“Would you knock it off. Horn dog.” I had to chuckle. I know this had to be just as hard on him as it was for me. To finally find our mate and then lose her all within the same hour.“What? Don’t act like you haven’t thought of it either!” Maddox retorted. “Go lay your fluffy ass down and reserve your strength. We have a fight to win.” Maddox snorted at me and I could feel him retreating to the back of mind.“Dude how many suitcases you got?! A
Collin’s POVI knew we were limited on time so sleep was going to have to wait. Dante and I arrived at the place the girl had described to a T. All down to the window trim. “Remind me to make that girl one of our investigators.” I said to Dante as we walked up to the house.“No kidding. She gave a better description than some of the more seasoned investigators we have.” Dante responded. We walked up to the door and let ourselves in. It was oddly quiet in the house that was supposed to be the headquarters of the group. Just when we thought no one was there, Dante stopped me and put his finger to his lips and then his ear. I took the que and started listening and heard what sounded like people whispering. We started following the voices quietly and when we came up to a door where they were coming from, I grabbed the handle and Dante took a defensive position, ready for anyone who might be stupid enough to try an attack. I twisted the handle and flung the door open. There were about 12

Aleena's POVI was falling into a very dark place; my mind going 100 miles per hour, anxiety at an all-time high and no family here to bring me out of a panic attack. I was sitting on the floor of my room with my back to my bed rocking back and forth and my hands were shaking uncontrollably. “Sweetie, you need to calm down. Your human counterpart family might not be here, but you still got me.” Koa softly said, back to her motherly voice. I swear she either had bipolar or multiple personality disorder sometimes. “I don’t know if I should be more worried or if that was meant to be calming.” I said with a shaky voice. “Look I know I’ve ‘off the rails’ as you kids call it nowadays, a couple times, but with my history with these people and now the new freedoms females have in this century, I get carried away. So much pent-up emotions for so many years can drive you crazy.” She was laughing now, actually laughing. My breathing started to get shorter and faster. Great, I’m supposed to b
Aleena's POV“Have you talked to Alex?” Jax asked the King.“No, I haven’t had a chance. You guys are the first. I just heard of it this morning. Harold told me he hasn’t talked to them in a couple of weeks. I sent him out with Sadie, Jessica, Gerreth, and Alfred to gather info on the vampires.” The King told us. “I can ask around here sir, but Alex would be your best bet with her abilities to go places unseen. She’s a sneaky little shit. She could be in this room right now and we probably don’t even know it.” Jax and the King chuckled.“You’re right. Alida, you haven’t heard any talk from maid or such about lycan’s vanishing have you?” The King now looking at me.“Not of that rank, no.” I said honestly. I wasn’t lying, I don’t know every single soul that got on those ships, and I thought it was mainly the lower ranked lycans that fled.“Not of that rank? Explain.” He ordered.“I overheard some of the maids talking that some of lower ranks had made a run for it.” I answered.“That’s

Aleena's POVI stood there in the shadows of the caves waiting for Jax to meet up with me. I was lost in my thoughts staring out into the horizon over the ocean, wondering where they were, when I heard a rock skid across the ground and it snapped me back to reality. “We are just 2 wolves out for a run if anybody asks.” I said quietly looking him dead in the eye.“Ok but what are we really doing?” He asked.“Clearing the beach. They are still going to send trackers out but only a mile off the beach before they let the others off the ships.” I said already slipping my shoes off. Jax nodded and followed my lead. I headed behind a tree to shift while Jax remained in the cave and shifted. We just nodded to each other and then took off running down the beach. We covered about 3 or 4 miles of shoreline and into the woods before Jax got my attention and pointed towards the sun. No words were spoken as we didn’t want anyone to overhear our conversations. On our way out of the woods Jax start
