THE GUARDIAN

Last night was truly the saddest for me. I poured out my heart in front of my Aunt, telling her what it felt like to be rejected. She didn't comment but listened and I don't remember when I fell asleep while complaining to her.

The next morning, I woke up on time and went downstairs only to be welcomed by a delicious aroma of beaten coffee. I don't remember the last time I had coffee. Along with pancakes on the platter, a smile erupted on my lips. My aunt never failed to amuse me.

"Aunt Sol, why did you make all this? You must be tired because i disturbed your sleep too." I asked her.

"You are my child, Alexis and it is my duty to serve you when you need me." She said without making any eye contact and flipped another pancake on the platter.

"Now, let's eat first…" she smiled and joined me on the table.

Although I regularly ate my breakfast at castle premises, I missed my aunt's cooking. It didn't matter what she cooked but everything was delicious. I had filled my stomach afte
