CHAPTER 56

It was a brown, sunny day. He was standing on what looked like clay soil. A reddish-brown dirt road. It was broad and caked, with cracks snaking into each other like an endless maze connections.

A soft breeze blew the front of what looked like a maid's apron and he had to quickly use his hands to pat the apron back to his body.

Looking up, all he could see was the back of the brown horse as its long tail swished around chasing away a fly or two from its butthole.

"Rosario. Look at me."

It wasn't his name but it felt like it was, so he looked up from his fascinated observation of the hide and seek game the horse's tail was playing with the two unrelenting flies. Just as he was about to see the face belonging to the broad back seated on the house, the sun suddenly landed on it. It was too bright for him to see but he heard the man loud and clear.

"You promise to wait for me."

"Yes. I will wait." He found himself nodding as h
