Chapter 7: An Attempt at Freedom

The next time I opened my eyes, it was dawn. There was a commotion outside. I stood up, my bed was soaked in my sweat and my heart ached no more. I walked outside to see guards parading about.

"Seeing a beauty this early spices up the morning." I looked to my side to find Mason approaching me. I wanted to look away, run and hide, but he would find that suspicious.

"Hello Mason," I greeted him, trying to keep the uneasiness out of my voice as he stood in front of me and leaned in. No way would I let this guy kiss me. Hell no!

I took a back. He chuckled at my reaction and reached for my forehead to wipe a sheen of sweat. "Did you sleep well?" He asked.

I wondered if he was the same person I had overheard last night. " I did sleep well." A blantant lie. "What's with the rowdiness?" I gestured to the guards rushing about.
