CHAPTER 69: Bittersweet

ELIANE'S POV

Nyx and I had sought solace in the gardens, our sanctuary away from the troubles that plagued us. As we worked side by side, tending to the blooming flowers and breathing in the fragrant air, I felt a temporary respite from the scars that adorned my body. But on that particular day, a sense of unease tingled beneath my skin, and Nyx seemed to sense it too.

"Elaine," Nyx spoke in a hushed tone, her voice a soothing melody amidst the rustling leaves. "There's something unsettling in the air. I can feel it in my bones."

I paused, my fingers still wrapped around a delicate rose stem, as a shiver traced its way down my spine. Nyx's instincts were rarely mistaken, and her words filled me with a mix of trepidation and curiosity. "What do you sense, Nyx? Is there danger approaching?"
