101. LIES

STANLEY’S POV

I knew that Petals was getting emotional and would spit out what she knew about Pureza’s health because she had once discussed the issue with me so I had to step in and stop her from dropping the bomb.

“Thank you for taking care of the boy, please look after him till the end” I said with a smile and Laura’s bow curved in confusion

She looked at me and wondered who I was and what I was doing there. I pretended as if I didn’t understand her stare and she was forced to ask at the end of the day, which I replied to without hesitation.

“Well, that’s good. It’s nice meeting you” she said to me and extended her hand for a shake “I’m Laura, one of the sponsors for the orphanage”

I took her hand and the smile on my face slowly faded as I said “Finally, I got to meet you”

Her brows curved up in confusion as she asked “Do you know me?”

A short moment of silence ensued between us as we both stared at each other, our eyes and hands locked together.

Finally, I broke the silence and
