22. IN THE CLUB

The ride was a bit quiet until he broke the silence by asking how I had been all these years. I contemplated if the past is what I should discuss with him but concluded that talking would be better than the silence.

“It wasn’t easy but I pulled through. I had to deal with so many things which you are also aware of some but in the end, here I am doing fine because they molded me into the woman I am today” I responded honestly and he paused for a while

“Was I also a part of the painful past that you had to deal with?” he slowly proceeded

With a deep sigh, I rested my head on the car’s header.

“Well, I don’t know what to say concerning you. I think I had a lot going on for me that I couldn’t dwell on your own part of my life. I had to take care of myself and my sister so thinking about our past was not even in the top priorities. Things happened and we went our way, nothing to hold unto except regrets, guilt and other longing feelings but I overcame that as time went by” I responded onc
