39. INSENSITIVE BASTARD

After dropping the call, I felt weird. The gravity of what I had concluded gradually started to dawn on me and I knew I had flunked a very big opportunity. I could have asked for an interview with the chairman in exchange for taking down the article but I knew my conscience wouldn’t let me rest afterward.

As if Stanley had been waiting for an opportunity to mock me, he sent for me immediately and pointed to the couch for me to have my seat, which I did with a trembling body. I knew what was to come from him and I just had to prepare myself thoroughly.
