Shattered

Iris's POV

Seeing Nathan my mood automatically got lifted. Not able to control my happiness I lunged toward him, engulfing him in a bear hug.

Stumbling for a sudden he steadied himself and returned the hug chuckling at my childless.

"It's high time you acknowledged that I still exist." He mocked tightening his hold on me.

It's the whole one year I last saw him. He and Ava were high school besties. He was the only one able to control Ava. Due to his frequent visits to our place we became very good friends. During high school, he was my savior. Because of him no one ever dared to bully me. Whenever I needed him he was always there.

One year ago when I left he was out of town. His family is one influential in the town. Our families being good friends was a perk.

"I am sorry for not contacting you." And yes I was sorry. Back then when I left. I got several calls from mom telling me he asked about my whereabouts. But then I was not ready for someone to weaken my determination.
