For a bizarre moment, everything goes into slow motion and my mind goes blank trying to digest what he just said.

Did he just say Sophie is the reason he came here in the first place? Not me? Sophie? He came to my small barbecue party just because his stupid girlfriend had insisted? This honestly hurts more than a stake in the heart of a vampire. I feel all the colour draining from my face. 

I feel Kyle's hand squeeze mine, then he turns to look at Trent. 

"Trent, you are a good friend of mine. But the same way you would not want to see Sophie get disrespected is the same way I wouldn't want you disrespecting Becca." 

He glances at me then at Trent.
