CHAPTER 7 "Escape 1"

Bible-

“She is missing, your girl escaped” said Harvey while running in my direction and I stood up abruptly. Who knew taking her out could be so chaotic?

“What the fuck are you doing?” I yelled in anger as I was running while he kept on looking at the floor with his shoes in his hands.

“My socks, I can’t find them” he said crawling on the floor, I could only see his death in the next few seconds.

“Fuck you Harvey, you don’t wear socks.” I said slamming my hand on the table and he looked up at me in shock.

“Oh, right” he said scratching his head in foolishness and both of us strolled downstairs. We were here to buy something for her and Harvey has an unusual habit of making this showroom his own personal area where he could relax.

I asked Theo to bring my car and all three of us drove off, Theo was driving and I ordered him to speed up. She left the mall a few minutes ago and couldn’t go far, all of us kept on looking outside to find her and I got down from the car as I grew impatient while Harvey looked at me with confusion.

“What’s happening?” Harvey asked and turned his face towards me.

“She would be going to her home, let’s wait for her there.” I spoke looking around as it seemed impossible to find her in the middle of the crowd.

“Okay, you guys go and I’ll wait for her in the mall. She forgot everything we bought for her.” he spoke making an innocent face and I could feel my nerves busting in fury.

“Shut up, Harvey.” I spoke in a frustrated voice, while Theo kept on smiling at the foolishness of the guy who claimed to be my right-hand.

We stopped at the destination and I got down from the car ringing the door bell, an old lady opened the door with her old boring face and I ignored the wicked lady trying to find the girl.

“Who are you? Where do you think you’re going?” She said to me as I attempted to walk inside but the men dressed in black perhaps creeped her out and she made us sit on the couch.

She seemed hospitable but I sensed weird vibes around her not knowing the reason behind it. We talked for a bit and I gave her an offer, that she couldn’t resist.

“I want to marry your daughter.” I spoke and her eyes went wide but I couldn’t know if she was happy about it or not. Although her eyes seemed to light up as I talked about to marriage, not to mention I was known for my good looks and explicit dressing sense.

She was definitely charmed by them and I believe she couldn’t say no anymore as I placed a cheque of one-million dollars in front of her. She gulped in greed and picked it up instantly, while I felt pity for the poor girl who had to bear with a mother like her.

I was right about my intuition as this lady was definitely wicked and more than I thought she was. We talked and I gained all the information about her as much as I could.

The love between the mother-daughter was clearly visible as this lady didn’t have one single photograph of Sarah. For a moment, I really felt at ease as now my girl would get to live a good life in which I’ll help her pursue all her dreams.

I felt at ease and walked upstairs to search her room hence, entered in an empty room which only had few clothes and books, I thought I would find a photograph or something but the empty room disappointed me severely.

“We’ll find her through books? In what century are we in? Is it even possible to trace with those?” Harvey said and I glared at him, who knew he would be so irritating at times?

“Go to the lady and ask for her daughter’s contact so that we can track her.” I said while searching every corner of her room and Harvey walked downstairs mumbling shit even he didn’t knew.

I was very thorough, as I didn’t leave a single place unnoticed, but wasn’t able to find anything in her room and destroyed the room completely turning it upside down, not even a single essence of her, nothing was there in the room for me to catch up to her. It was only becoming a mystery as every second passed by.

The lady wasn’t even worried for her daughter as she didn’t reach home last night, instead was constantly looking at the cheque I gave. I’ll put an end to Sarah’s misery by helping her get out of this damnation.

I walked out of the house towards the backyard, and looked around to see what kind of environment she grew up in and all of us waited for her to come back. I was sure a girl like her would definitely want to meet her mother even though she’s going to escape later on.

My eyes were fixated at the door for hours and it was closer to dusk now, the old lady offered us food but I chose to go upstairs once again to see her room which I successfully destroyed.

I sat on the bed she used to sleep and hugged the pillow imagining it’s her, the bedsheet had her scent which was enough for me to go crazy and I closed my eyes in order to suppress those desire that were filling my mind out of nowhere.

I rolled on the bed in attempt to defeat the unbearable emotions and felt someone opening the door. I panicked and stood up abruptly as Harvey barged in and I waited for him to open his mouth.

“She’s here?” I spoke as he didn’t speak but rather enjoyed watching my curious eyes who were looking for the girl I was waiting for. He nodded without irritating me much and I strolled down in a hurry.

She was standing but kept on staring at the cheque I handed over to her mother, I closed my eyes in disappointment as the greedy mother couldn’t even hide it for a few seconds, I've already messed up big time and Sarah hates me, if she knows that I gave her mother some money in exchange of her, she’d be devastated.

“What’s that?” she asked and I scratched my head, she didn’t sense my presence as her eyes were fixated at the paper in her mother’s hand.

“T--- this? Oh! It’s nothing, just some bills I got to pay.” She spoke and Sarah looked at her with surprise and walked towards her, I didn’t want the situation to get out of hands hence, walked downstairs to distract Sarah.

“Hello, figured you would want to see your mother for the one last time before the escape.” I spoke and placed my hands at the back, the color of her face faded and she moved her feet in order to run but Theo blocked her way.

I saw terror in her eyes as she saw me walking towards her and tried to hide behind her mother.

“Please, save me this once. He---- he’s a monster, mom. P—please.” She spoke while holding her mom’s clothes and for some time I felt pity for her but couldn’t just fall for her tears. Her life in the mansion would be way better than this hellhole.

“You must you be afraid of such a nice guy?” the old lady spoke making Sarah tremble in fear, she snatched the cheque from her mother’s hands and saw a huge one-million dollars written on it. Her eyes went wide in shock but didn’t want to believe that such a thing is possible in a modern era like this.

“This isn’t what I'm thinking right?” she spoke while holding it in front of her mother, and the lady peered down on the floor not knowing any answers of her questions.

“Why the fuck are you quiet? Speak? You…… you didn’t offer it to her, did you?” she spoke and strolled in my direction while it eventually happened even though we tried to avoid this situation. She found out that her mother traded her for some money.

She grabbed my collar realizing that what she thought turned out to be true, I saw tears in her eyes but she hid it from me in order to look strong. I couldn’t emphasize with her as I was the one who led to such a drastic situation.

“Mom, d—don’t send me with them. Give the cheque back, we don’t need their money.” She joined her hands in front of her mother feeling helpless and I peered down on the floor. The only thing that hurts me was seeing her in a terrible condition, it shatters my heart watching her in pain.

“Get off of me, my life’s been hell since you killed my husband, at least now I will have some money to live my life peacefully. This man is good, way better than your cheater fiancé, go with him.” she spoke jerking Sarah’s hands off of her body.

I couldn’t believe my ears after hearing her mother speak, when I first met her, she told me that her father’s waiting for her but now it’s something I never expected. I didn’t know she didn’t have a dad but also didn’t believe her wicked mother. In no world this girl who’s so lively would do something to her own father.

The word that ran shivers down my spine was, ‘fiancé’. It gave me goosebumps as what if she happened to marry another man? What if I was a few seconds late and lost her, I didn’t know if I should be happy that her ex turned out to be a cheater or be sad that she had to go through a lot.

As I was getting to know about her life, she was nothing like how I met her at the bar, her life was filled with tragedies and heartbreaks still, she tried to become such a heartwarming person. I turned my back towards them as I didn’t have the courage to look in her eyes anymore realizing I just added pain into her life.

I turned around and looked at her for a good one minute and tides of emotions appeared, hate towards her mother, anger for not being able to do anything, love for the girl crying in front of me, agony were what I experienced in that one minute. I clung onto her and wrapped my arms around her neck losing myself in her embrace.

She was startled and didn’t hug me back, but that was okay with me, she couldn’t speak anything and pushed me back as I tried to ease her pain so that she can feel like she’s important. This world to too cruel for her and I would do anything for her happiness, I would burn this whole world down just to see her smile and erase all the worries making her life pretty and something she could hold onto.

“What are you doing? Get away from me?” she spoke and I picked her up in my arms as she didn’t deserve to live in such a place, even though my ways aren’t right, I’ll still try my best to give her love and affection she lacked since childhood.

“I'm not going anywhere with you, you monster.” She spoke and started punching me on my chest, this would keep her distracted for a while and she would spend all her energy in hating me and would forget the pain as her mother didn’t even object me while I was taking Sarah away.

“Shut up, she just sold you. What do you expect from her?” I spoke and she stopped hitting me as I hit a nerve. I should’ve just kept my mouth shut but ended up talking shit.

“And you? You bought me, does that make you a saint?” she spoke and I saw resentment in her eyes, it was still fine by me as now, she won’t be crying for a mother who abandoned her like nothing.

“Let’s go back home.” I spoke and both of us sat in car while Theo and Harvey just followed, all the time she kept on looking outside the window not matching eyes with me and I heard her cried in a low voice.

I knew what she was going through but didn’t have any idea what it feels like to be abandoned by your own mother. I placed my hand on her head assuring her that I'm with her through highs and lows, I kept on caressing it until she noticed it and looked at me with fury in her eyes.

Although, my only intention was to make her feel loved, I think I still managed to ruin it as I saw her lifting her hand up in the air and in no time it contacted my cheek.
