3. Who is He?

Kira.

I was stunned by the fortress' size and magnificence as I walked deeper and deeper into the structure that appeared to have been sculpted by Zeus himself. I followed Gus closely as he walked with perfect poise, absolutely bewildered. I had no idea where I was because every pillar we passed and hallway we entered was identical to the one before it. I simply followed him, sinking more and further into its darkness like a lost child.

This mansion looked to have some sort of history tied to it. Its walls shouted artistic design, and the sculptured knights in armor at each pillar's corner gave me chills from head to toe. It brought back memories of the old movies I used to watch, and it reminded me of how ferocious knights once were. Gus and I were both really small in comparison because of how big everything else was. I felt as though Hercules' era was being transported to me.

When he eventually rounded a curve and entered another hallway, something felt off. It was frighteningly gloomy. As I walked further inside, the atmosphere was drastically different and gave me the goosebumps.

Gus guided me to the enormous doors that were at the end of the hallway while maintaining his harsh attitude and artistic posture. Its handles appeared to have been fashioned by a goldsmith, and a very accomplished one at that because they resembled heaven's gates.

Gus pushed the doors open while I was still standing there, making me appear small in comparison to them. He then took a few steps inside and set himself up like an instructor at the doorway; his strength was truly impressive.

"Your chambers are located here." He stated clearly, and I gulped at his words. "A few maids will be assigned to you for your personal needs, but if you require anything else that is outside their bounds, I will be present. Do you have any questions?"

He started talking right away as if he couldn't stand to be in the same room with me for another second.

I couldn't even speak.

"If there are none, I'll leave right away, your luggage will be sent to you soon." He immediately turned around in an attempt to leave the room when I said nothing.

I couldn't believe it. I tried to talk, but all that came to mind was what I whispered.

"Where is Caesar?"

As soon as I uttered those words, he jerked and his eyes widened. Since I met him, that was the first expression I noticed on his face. I arched my brows in perplexity at his quick response.

His expression of shock persisted for a while before he rapidly overcame it and took a deep breath. He shifted his attention back to me, and I could see the irritation and indifference in his eyes.

"The Lord has not been around in a long time and will not be returning home anytime soon, I'll advise you not to be expectant."

After saying those words, he quickly dashed away, closing the large doors and leaving me inside.

"The Lord?"

Why is he referred to as a lord?

Maybe it's because he is the descendant of the richest family in the entire nation, but either way, it is absurd. I gasped because the following notion made me feel afraid.

He may be a drug lord, is that possible?

My chest began to beat rapidly. That clarifies how he came to be so wealthy because it seems impossible. I mean, take a look at this mansion's size and how he lives like a God who is being adored by a group of people somewhere in the globe.

I was unsure of whether to feel happy or sad; I simply felt indifferent. I got married to a man who just visits occasionally and doesn't stay at home. I suppose in a way I felt relieved and at ease, but I was still confused about who he was.

As my eyes explored the room, I was astounded by all they saw. They moved up from the spacious king-sized bed to the crystal-like chandelier that was directly over me. I opened my eyes wide when I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the clear crystal, which revealed my bridal outfit. I hastily lowered my gaze, focusing on other intriguing objects. I didn't want to be reminded of my unfortunate fate.

The furniture in the center of the room and the royal-style pieces appeared small due to the room's size. The first spot that beckoned to me as I mustered up the nerve to wander about the room was the enormous balcony at the end of it, where the night breeze had pulled the sheer curtains back, allowing the chills to settle on my skin.

As though under hypnosis, I moved slowly in its direction. I was additionally inspired by the full, brilliant moon. I walked slowly and deliberately toward the sculpted rays, resting my palms gently on their surface. After taking a deep breath and exhaling it through my mouth, I instantly felt relaxed. Slow classical music was the only thing missing from this atmosphere.

Before going back inside, I lingered outside for a bit and thought back on my life. Both the bridal garment and a thorough cleaning were necessities. I was relieved that the day was finally over because it had been a hectic and sad day for me.

To find the bathroom, I roamed and pried open a lot of doors and walked inside when I did at last.

I was startled out of a deep sleep by the ringing of the morning bells, which caused me to open my eyes widely.

"What in the name of the universe is that damn sound?" I murmured to myself, groaning in annoyance. I detested being awakened from sleep the most.

For a while, the noise persisted as I snatched up a pillow and placed it in front of my ear.

"Get it to stop," I murmured on the cushions once more, but this time louder, talking to no one in particular, but the noise persisted, so that didn't help.

Goddamn it.

Giving up, I sat up with my ears still covered by cushions on both sides; other than yesterday, this is the most irritated I have ever been.

The sound was so triggering that it could entice you into taking your own life.

Although my eyes were still closed, my body was already up.

I gasped, astonished at the scene in front of me, as I cautiously opened my eyes to the light.

In front of me, twelve maids had positioned themselves in a straight line like statues. They remained there motionless as if they were being possessed, and I was astounded by their silence.

I was confused.

I began to wonder if I was in another world entirely. I wanted to speak but what do I say? What are they even doing in my chambers? This is highly disturbing, they scared the living hell out of me.

"W-what's going on? Is there a problem?"

I asked cautiously, sitting erect, and then one of them stepped forward.

"Good morning miss Kira," I nodded, giving her a wary look but she continued speaking still. "We were directed by Gus to attend to your daily needs".

My brow rose at her words and my eyes didn't leave hers even for a second. So the few maids Gus talked about the previous night were a dozen maids? Why would I be needing this much assistance?

"A-All of you?" She nodded to my question bobbing her head up and down.

"We will only begin with our duties when you approve and give us permission to do so."

I was dumbstruck.

Am I married to a king to be given this kind of treatment?

"Only if you have m-my permission?" I stuttered and she nodded again, her eyes peering into my soul in anticipation.

"Well... Then you have my permission."

Immediately I said those words, they all bowed lightly and began to divide themselves, stationing themselves to different chores.

I only watched them, unable to speak. They acted as though they only lived to serve me and please me. This is the first time I am seeing anything like this in my life. Is this how they act here? Do they treat their masters as God?

I was still in awe when one of them walked to my bed cowering with a bow. "Can I be given the honor of preparing your bath?"

This is weird!

Extremely weird but I went with the flow.

Maybe I will adjust to it sooner or later, and maybe I find it weird because I have only lived like an outcast all my life.

"S-Sure," I managed and she smiled with her eyes before shyly strolling towards my bathroom.

I furrowed my brows in amusement and immediately my thoughts went to him again- The man I married.

I picked up my phone.

There's got to be a way to discover who my husband is. I should at least know who I am married to thanks to the Internet.

I quickly typed out his name 'Caesar Monsorrie ' but nothing came back from the search, rather it spelled out 'name does not exist '

Does not exist?

I must've typed wrong.

I typed his name again this time with full capitalization but the same result came back. My eyes widened in shock and wandered in confusion.

This is weird.

Why is the wealthiest man in the country not found on the internet?

I took deep breaths to steady my beating heart and typed 'The Monsorries ' but the same result came back from the search. 'Name does not exist '

I started to tremble. Am I married to a ghost? Have I been sold to a family of ghosts?

Suddenly, the butler's words came into my thoughts, 'The lord has not been home for a very long time and will not be coming home anytime soon, do not be expectant '

My eyes opened wide in horror.
