Chapter 20

( Mariana)

When I opened my eyes, I was met with a bright white light. I winced, and slowly sat up in the hospital bed. I felt a dull ache in my head, and my body was sore all over. Where was I? I think I was at the hospital but I couldn't remember how I had gotten to the hospital, or what had happened to me.

I took a deep breath, and tried to focus on my surroundings. I was in a small, private room, with white walls and white sheets. There was a window next to the bed, and through it I could see a clear blue sky. I looked down and saw that I was wearing a hospital gown.

There was an IV in my arm, and I could feel a bandage on my head. I reached up to touch it, and a wave of nausea hit me. I tried to push the feeling down, but it was too strong. I hastily leaned over the side of the bed and threw up into a nearby trash can.

Once the wave of nausea passed, I laid back down on the bed and closed my eyes. How did I get here? I tried to remember what had happened and why I was in the h
