Her name was Megara Daybrace from the Scarlet Blossom Clan.
As the saying goes around in this sect, 'She was ethereal but it was all in vain.'
Beauty cannot fight fate.
Some beautiful ones are fated with unsightly ones.
Some are beautiful but unsightly within, some are unsightly but beautiful within, all fated.
Thus for Megara beauty was nothing...it was all about fate.
Which unfortunately was infrequently on her side.
"Pardon us, Master," Helice said and all four of them stood in line beside each other. Facing their master with a straight stance and warm characteristics. "Where were you this morning?" Megara asked Helice as she slowly walked up to them. Her hands were behind her back as she stood straight with a stern look on her face.
She looked at Helice before looking at others indifferently.
"I...overslept." Helice said and slightly gulped, barely keeping eye contact with Megara. This woman's eyes were like sharp weapons when she was dissatisfied. Helice lowered her eyes as she can no longer keep straight eye contact with her master.
Megara said nothing and looked at all four of them.
"It's been a while since we went on an A-rank mission," Megara said and both the boys standing in front of her bloomed as if they already won a battle or were getting married.
"A rank mission," Ida said, her eyes almost coming out of her sockets. She was the greatest doormat in them but never truly showed it to Megara otherwise she would be booted out but only if she knew her master was well knowledgeable of all four of her disciples.
"Our lives will be at great risk here," Megara said and all of them went stiff. It was the first time Megara said something like 'Losing her life' in an A-rank mission.
"What is the mission, Master?" Helice asked hurriedly as she was always very impatient. She was working on controlling her impatient nerves. Megara took a quick breath before finally throwing an entire pebble on all four of them.
"We are going to the dark mansion. We will be looting the stones that Evandros Linya has compiled somewhere in his dark mansion." By the end of Megara's explanation, all four of them were already pale. Only syloson was a little steady.
"Evandros already possessed five stones now....if not five we can at least take one but we must not let him know from which sect we belong. The day after tomorrow we will vacate for the mission. Tomorrow you guys will meet me here around this time and we will examine our plan." Megara said with a stern expression on her face. Her gaze examined each of her disciple's faces.
"W...Why us?" Ida asked.
Megara was quiet, she knew exactly 'Why us?' but she was a master who was not here to demotivate her disciples. Only because of them, she was a master otherwise.....she mentally shook her head and looked at Ida indifferently.
"Show them...why exactly us," Megara said with a faint smile on her face and all four of them lit up like young flowers. It wasn't like she honored them but the anxiety they had just a second ago faded away with Megara's terms.
"Yes." They said in unison, full of spirit.
"Then I will see you guys tomorrow. Sharpen yourself." Megara said and turned around to leave but she trailed off in her trail and slightly turned her head to look at Helice. "Once we are done with the mission, you have to write a hundred manuscripts of your missed homework," Megara said and walked away. Once she was walking on the bridge far away from them, surrounded by trees, all three of them turned towards Helice and mocked her.
Helice thought she would get away with her punishment but her master was Megara Daybrace.
Megara Daybrace.
The wind rustled, fluttering her white robe as she slowly walked on the bridge filled with autumn leaves. Her shadow walked beside her on the texture of the dampness. Her gaze watched the trees above her. She did not spare any glimpses of the disciples walking past her.
Her mind was roaming around 'Why us?'
She felt sudden warmth and bitterness clenching her chest within.
'Why us?'
Because their Master Megara did not have any soulmate. This was a world where people were destined to meet and bear each other symbols on their chest and arms as soulmates after the age of eighteen, some met their soulmates a little late around twenty but Megara was twenty-four and still had no soulmate which only notifies one thing...she was born without a match.
There is only ten percent of people in this world who are born without a soulmate and Megara was one of them. These people are kept low and looked down on by other people. No matter how strong you are...if people can't judge you...your companions will. She was the only master with very few disciples....no one wanted to be under her, to be teached by her but those four children did.
They think...they are faulty...they might not know but Megara knows why those four prefer her. Guessing she was faulty just like them and they won't be looked down on by their companion or master.
However, when they got to know her, they knew they preferred the right master.
The reason they were ordered to go on this mission was that no one cared about them..the headmaster of the sect did but the other masters didn't and selected her to go on this mission.
They knew this mission was risky and they might die but they could care less for Megara and her disciples because they were faulty anyway. Their death will not impact the sect.
But there is this one master who cares about her.
He was also born without a soulmate but was treated well because of his strong magic and spiritual core. He was stronger than Megara or maybe because he was a man.
His name was Evenor from the red tiger clan. He possessed the same red hair as Syloson and was handsome from head to toe. Not to mention his eyes..they speak love to her.
She might not have a soulmate but there is this man who looks at her with love.
At least she had him.
They had pure feelings for each other and both of them knew without even saying it. He was more in devotion while she had her limitations up for some reason...only she knew why.
She was at peace with him but little did she know her peace will be devastated a lot sooner.
At the entrance of the mountain."Have you guys packed all of your significant possessions?" Megara inquired once she reached the entrance of the sect. "Yes." All four of her students said in unison. She nodded and grabbed her horse reins, mounting her horse with her disciples. All of them were wearing clothes that common people usually wear since they did not want to uncover their originality. Megara's horse was in between them as she carefully eyed each of her disciples. Her eyes paused on Helice who was looking pale. Her lips were blue and her hands were tightly holding onto her horse reins. She seems to be pondering something very seriously."No need to be nervous, Helice." Helice snapped out of her thoughts once she heard Megara's voice. She looked up at her master in a trance, her eyes unfocused for a second. "I know but this mission truly depends on my portal magic. What if I ceased to function?" She asked, her tone slightly hoarse."It's alright. As long as I'm here...you do
It was Evandros Linya's room. She took a sharp breath in and slightly turned her head to look at the guard behind her. She decided to use her magic on him but by the time she turned to look at him, he wasn't standing alone. There was a maid beside him and both of them were looking at her.She was standing at a dead end.If these people didn't go straight and took the path next to her they will immediately find out about the knocked-out maid on foot. She swallowed but her throat was dry. She can feel her palm sweating. With no option, she slowly opened the door and walked inside. She kept her head low and swung her ponytail in front of her face, trying to hide her features as much as she can. She slowly raised her green orbs and was stunned beyond her wits by the obscene scene before her.She snapped her gaze down at the ground and slowly walked towards the table which was placed in front of the huge window. Even the curtains weren't down. The table was surrounded by pricey and fancy c
"Master? Are you alright?" Darcy bent down beside Megara who was seating on the sword. They had no option but to invoke their swords and get out of the clan as soon as possible. Once they were out of the clan then only did they breathe out.Megara who was sitting on Darcy's sword up in the air was somewhere in a trance, worrying her disciples riding the swords around her. Her left arm was pulsing in misery but she endured it like she always did. "Yeah, we must step down in the Yarin village and immediately depart for the sect," Megara said and looked around at her disciples. Her expressions were stern like steel and her eyes were cold as usual. The expressions on her disciple's face were somewhat looked distressed. They looked defeated. Yarin village was located between the Linya Clan and Liberation front sect. They left their horses in the inn they paid for and immediately sat off for the Linya Clan. Now they were heading back to the village.Megara lowered her gaze and looked dow
Nowhere.Such things as suddenly having a mark out of nowhere in your twenties were written nowhere. In no books, in no vision, nowhere. The books were scattered everywhere on the floor of Blossom's room but the answer she was looking for was nowhere. She stood up from the floor and started to pace around the room. She was anxious. She doesn't remember who she touched back then. It's impossible to suddenly have a mark. If you had a soulmate fate will naturally bond both of you within time.If she has a soulmate then she can't get with Evenor. She rubbed her temples in sheer confusion and frustration. She closed her eyes and tried to remember past occurrences. She didn't touch any man other than her disciples who were not eighteen yet....the only one she had slight skin-to-skin contact with was...Evandro's Linya. She licked her chapped lips and shook her head.Although every proof was pointing towards him she refused to believe it and kept shaking her head in denial. "Unthinkable...
The day to depart for the wedding came like lightning.Steeds and carriages were in front of the mountain's entrance. Some mounted on their horses, mostly men, and some settled down in their carriages, mostly women including the headmaster's daughter-in-law.Megara stood beside her old uncle, both of them holding onto their horse reins waiting for everyone to settle down so they can start their voyage.Out of nowhere, she felt someone gazing at her so she wandered her eyes around, her heartbeat skipped when her eyes met Evenor's. He sat on his horse ever so elegantly, looking like a true warrior. As gentle as his features were, his eyes were cold. He stared at her with a stern expression not tearing his gaze away even when he was caught by her.She felt a sudden pain in her chest. She gripped the reins tighter and lowered her eyes, turning her face away from him. She knew why he was giving her such looks and she wouldn't blame him. She has been ignoring him ever since she has been ma
"Where have you been?" Evenor stood in the foyer of the inn along with the others. As soon as she strode inside she was met by them. "I was just strolling in the market." She said and looked around at the others behind him. Her gaze went toward the females standing behind Evenor and some beside their soulmates. All of them were dressed nicely and looked beautiful. They looked delicate and fragile, the incident which just occurred a few minutes ago has her thinking about stuff she never thought about. She could not help but glance down at herself. She was rather dressed like the men here. She looked up at Evenor and found him staring at her with a frown. "Ah-uh, are you fellows proceeding somewhere?" She asked and Evenor passed her a gentle smile. "Yes, We are heading to the main hall of the sect. Since the wedding is arriving soon almost all the guests are here. Marco has arranged a gathering up there before the wedding." Evenor said and Megara slightly withered. She didn't look q
"A soulless man like me...suddenly had a soulmate mark."The room which was in eerie silence not long ago was suddenly filled with whispers. Suddenly having a soulmate at his age was not normal. Some people thought either he was lying or is exposing this after a long time. Whatever it was, most of them felt sorry for their soulmate. Everyone congratulated him despite his words which didn't make any sense.A handful even hesitantly asked who she was.Hearing this question from certain someone, Blossom could not help but scowl for a second. Some people know how to lick shoes. She pressed the cup on her lips and gulped down the liquor one after another cup. Her alcohol forbearance was very high so she wasn't scared of getting barfly. She did not raise her gaze and kept her focus on the table in front of her but her ears could not help and perk up with each whisper near her."What? Suddenly having a soulmate? What kind of nonsense is he spouting?" Evenor spoke out while taking a sip of
"Chain technique and green eyes?" He asked, almost towering over her. She abruptly stepped back, her right hand unconsciously grabbing the hilt of her sword. "Yes, is there something wrong with it?" She asked, although she appeared calm on the front, her inside was in chaos, her heart beating faster, and her mind predicting each of his upcoming attacks. But this man was truly unpredictable and kept confusing her with his words and actions. She failed to understand even a bit of him, just like back then...His eyes went down to her hand which was grabbing the hilt of her sword. The corner of his mouth twitched and he slowly raised his eyes back to look into her green orbs. They were still the same green orbs from back then but there was no light in them. He can't help but sneer within."You...when did you get out of prison?" He asked out of nowhere. Her mouth slightly parted and her pupils dilated upon hearing his question. No useless words were conveyed, he just hit right on the so
