Xyrra’s POV
Time passed and in all honesty, it almost felt like I was living in a dream. Ryker and I stayed in that flat which turned out to be some sort of his bachelor pad after he’d moved out of his parent’s place. This was where he’d stayed during his university days. It turned out that the motel where Tiffany had seen him a few days ago had been one of his victims, not his. We’d stayed there as if it was our honeymoon. He wasn’t always gentle, that was for sure, but he was, well, something else. After two years of being apart from him, my heart sort of settled for a lower standard. The fear was still there, the terror appeared once in a while, but most of the time, they were drowned by this bubbly and relief feeling of knowing that he was still alive and that I got to spend another day with him. As I said, it was a dream, and how I loved that dream.
But just li
Can you guess what is actually happening here? An easter egg here.
The next day, it was back to sex and violence or a combination of both. It was almost as if the bloodlust roared along with the sexual current between us before it finally pulled him down into a spiral of starvation. Hunger ripped through his civilized nature, shredding everything gentle and kind about him. All of that tenderness was gone and before I could stop him, he already bared his canines, flipped me over onto my back, and went straight ahead at my neck. Although unlike before, I noticed that he didn’t drink as much, or perhaps the fact that I’d shielded my mind from him caused him to be more cautious. I wasn’t sure what it was and Ryker was hard to read. There was a degree of coldness that made it truly impossible to know what was on his mind. I let my head fall back and try to remember how to breathe. I felt dizzy, my heart was thundering so loud that all I could hear was each thump poundin
“Hey, hey, hey, you’re alright,” I tried calming him down. I ran my hand up and down his back. He held my hand tightly as he continued to sob as if he’d lost his soul. And perhaps he’d had. “You’re going to be alright.” “I won’t,” he replied at last. “I’ve done too much harm. I’ve killed too many people.” He briefly looked up at me before dropping his gaze back to the floor. “I’ve hurt you as well. Seriously, Xy, I don’t deserve to live.” “Yes, you do,” I said with enough penetration in my voice so that he could get my point. “You’re here now and you’re going to be alright. You can still do some good.” “But I remember those people,” he said through his sobs. I’d never seen him cry like this and it broke my heart. “I remember their screams. I remember the terror in their eyes, their pleads, beggi
So that was precisely what we’d done the next day. Our first stop was Eros’s place. My phone had been trashed somewhere in the alley where Ryker had taken me after I’d passed out. We’d gone back there with literally zero hope and we’d been right, the phone had been long gone. You might suggest for us to go to the nearest police station, and believe me, we’d done it too. Still, to no avail. I unlocked the door and we both went inside. “Er? Are you there? I’m back.” I walked into the kitchen and saw no one there then I raced to the second floor. Eros wasn’t there either. I checked the bathrooms and they were empty. “Xy, you better come down here,” Ryker said, calling me from the first floor. I walked back to where I’d come from and saw him from the top of the stairs. He was standing at the landing with a piece of paper in his hand. “I found this under the table. Eros must’ve placed it on the table but it got blown away or something.” As soon as I arrived at the bottom of the stai
“You’re not my mother.” I wasn’t sure if I was trying to tell myself or her. “My mother is dead. She died when I was eight years old.” I bit my bottom lip to keep them from trembling. “My dad killed her. He told me himself so don’t even think that for a second that I believe you.” “Really? Does that imbecile brute truly think that he could kill me?” Blair scoffed, incredulity in her voice. “Do you know how much my true power is? How many people have I taken them from? My uncles, my aunts, my cousins, my baby sister.” She shook her head, a cunning smile stretched on her mouth. “A mere werewolf like him wouldn’t be able to kill me.” “You’re not my mother,” I reiterated, refusing to believe that this woman was the same woman who’d given birth to me. “I have to say, I was being too hasty twelve years ago,” she started, her eyes never leaving mine. That smile on her face never faded either and I had to fight the urge to wipe it off. “Don’t you think it’s odd that a witch as caliber as
“But, Er, there’s a possibility that Blair Balfour might still be in there and what if you just killed her too!” I yelled at my best friend out of frustration. I wasn’t sure how I felt about him killing my mother especially since she was an evil sorceress who knew no bounds but an idiot as this might sound, she was still my mother. I wanted her to be punished severely for what she’d done, and perhaps it would take a lifetime to pay for it but at least she’d still be alive. ‘It’s done. She is finally here with us, inside you.’ ‘You have finally gotten our revenge.’ “What do you mean she’s inside me?” Panic started creeping inside me. My mother’s magic was inside me, there was her essence there. What if it would turn me into something like her? Something awful and evil? ‘You took her power, now it’s in you.’ “What about Blair?” ‘Blair is long gone, my child. Gaia isn’t stupid, she took Blair’s soul out of her body the second she jumped into it.’ It actually made sense. If Bla
“What should we do with the body?” Eros glanced down at Blair’s body then as if it was too much of a sigh for him, he looked up to meet my eyes. I caught a bit of remorse mixed with guilt on his face. He must have felt terrible for killing my mother. But before I could tell him that it was alright, my great grandmother said, ‘Poor Blair. She was a sweet girl but she always craved attention and affection. I blame her father. Richard didn’t only beat her up growing up, he also hurt him mentally, always made her feel like she wasn’t good enough.’ Monique, my grandmother, suddenly jumped in and said, ‘And her mother was no better either. She was a spineless woman who did nothing but accepted all the abuse. I was honestly surprised that she even had the guts to have an affair with you, Jerome.’ ‘Oh, please. My charm was just that great,’ said a man that I quickly noted as Jerome Delvaux, aka my mum’s father, Monique’s husband. They started arguing about Jerome’s charm and I quickly sh
A few minutes later, both Ryker and Eros had arrived at the second floor of Blair’s small flat. The boys brought and placed Blair’s body on the floor of the hallway in front of the bedroom. I wished there was a more decent place to lay her down but this was our only choice considering the lack of furniture or sofa here. Ryker seemed to have explained what was going on to Eros because I found my best friend looking at me worriedly. “Are you sure you’re going to do this?” he asked once they’d done laid Blair down, putting his hand on my shoulder and leaning down to level his eyes with mine. “You’ve never done it before, Xy. It could be dangerous. What if you won’t be able to return and are stuck inside her body forever?” I shook my head. “This is the fastest way, Er. If I have to break each of those runes, it would take ages. Furthermore, I had to break it in a reversed way as Blair put them and I had no idea in what order she’d placed them. It would take days for me to figure it out

I wasn’t about to leave my baby alone here in London. Their second suggestion was to let either Ryker or Eros ride my motorcycle while I rode in their car. I also declined that one so in the end, both Ryker and Eros brought their car while I rode my baby. We made a stop in the motel along the way. At first, I thought that we all would cramp into one bedroom but Eros, who had gone to the receptionist and made the arrangement, came back with two keys. He tossed one key to Ryker and winked at me before heading toward his own room. “Enjoy your early honeymoon, mates!” he teased u
