Mallory soughed, inclined himself deeper into his seat, and tapped his mate. “You are a better narrator. I’m sure you should take over.”

Mallory was aware that his mate was still getting over the fact that they might lose Jacob, as they had lost Olivera, but he believed that talking about it might help her get over the impending loss quickly. Jacob wasn’t their son. They had just been caretakers, and they had failed in that duty twice. They won’t fail the third time.

Sarah sighed, wanting to rebuff the request, wanting to refuse, but knowing that doing so wouldn’t speak well of her character. She didn’t want to talk about how she had gotten the kids however, it was like solidifying the reality that Jacob would leave her.
