CHAPTER 33

"I missed you..." I said to myself as I was driving the streets of Detroit. Mike was right. Detroit is empty, City of ghosts. Only ruins remained. My memories started going up when I was driving by 12th street, where my favorite bookstore was, but now? There's nothing. Now there's some Rosa Park Boulevard. After that, my eyes started filling up as I turned for 8 mile road. My home.

I was thinking... Will people there know me? Will they remember that small blonde who was always playing outside her house with a soccer ball? Or they remember me as a little hooligan who was running the streets with a few black friends and some punks from Salem's lot? Maybe they don't remember me at all. Who knows?

"Hell-o?" My voice trembled as I answered my phone. I cough and repeated again. "Hello?"

"Jess? Are you ok?" Hannah sounded worried.

"I'm fine just... You know... I haven't been here for so long... Everything is different..." I said with tears in my eye
