Tom reclined in his chair at the lunch bar, his friends listening to what he was saying. "Fifteen grand against Croft." He said. So far, besides the stares he got, his friends hadn't brought the kiss up and that was a good thing. He couldn't say the same for Lacey. The last time he glanced her way she had her head down and other girls besides the two girls she was with obviously had something to say. How was he going to start apologising? Not to mention when he went looking for her after Ms. Patter's class he couldn't find her. She wasn't even in the burnt house.

"Fifteen grand against Croft. You're betting with college kids?" David spoke and Tom nodded. "What if you lose? And by that I mean what if they win?"
