I hereby disown you, Scarlett Rowan. Her uncle’s words echoed in her mind. She had never imagined her night would take such a devastating turn.
She stared at her uncle in disbelief and took a step back. The whispers among the wolves returned, some morphing into cruel taunts. Some offered pitying glances, while others praised Alpha for his decision. A few even smirked at Scarlett, looking smug in the face of her humiliation.
Scarlett felt Ulva rising within her once again. She tried to tamp her wolf down, but then Luna Helen spoke. “Scarlett will be moved to the servants’ quarters tonight,” she declared with overt satisfaction in her voice.
Ulva fought harder to come to the surface.
Meanwhile, Olivia wrapped herself around George’s arm and leaned into him. “Take her away,” she ordered.
But before the servants moved, Scarlett lost the battle with Ulva, and her fangs came out.
Gasps filled the room, and the servants stepped backward, trembling. Even her uncle looked wary, despite being Alpha.
But Scarlett had no desire to deal with any of them. She merely wanted to get away, and she needed a vigorous run to calm Ulva and her racing emotions.
So she bolted from the alpha’s quarters. With a resounding howl, she shifted into her wolf form and sprinted deep into the forest, running for miles. Only after she reached the boundary between their territory and the powerful Lycan kingdom beyond did Ulva’s rage begin to subside.
At the boundary was a dark river Scarlett would visit whenever she felt alone. She would spend hours there, enjoying the serenity of the place and how it soothed her mind. So she reverted to her human form and waded into the river’s dark water, allowing it to lap lovingly at her naked skin.
It was well past midnight, and the river belonged to no pack, which technically made it a potential target for rogue attacks. But rogue attacks had never occurred there, and that led Scarlett to believe that fear of the Lycans kept them at bay, even if it wasn’t anyone’s territory. So while others would consider the area far from safe for a lone she-wolf, Scarlett felt peace there.
Though she still felt frustration about the day’s events.
‘Why, Ulva?’ Scarlett asked, leaning against a partially submerged stone in the water. ‘Why did we end up like this?’
‘It’s a destiny written by the Moon Goddess. We can’t change it.’ The wolf sighed. ‘And I’m sorry for my behavior earlier. It caused you trouble.’
Scarlett shook her head. ‘It doesn’t matter. They had already degraded us. It’s just become official today.’ She looked up at the dark sky and spoke aloud. “Maybe it’s even better. We can be free now.”
Ulva remained silent for a while, then said, ‘You mean... as a rogue?’
‘Yes, as a rogue. I don’t want to live as an omega. Choosing the life of a rogue is more respectable.’
‘Destiny will take us where Mother chooses us to be, Scar,’ Ulva muttered, sitting in the corner of her mind.
Scarlett remained in the water for a long time, enjoying the tranquility. But then Ulva stood alert on all fours.
Scar frowned. ‘What is it?’
‘Rogues,’ Ulva replied with uncharacteristic fear.
Scar looked around carefully, her eyes sharp and her nerves on edge. Slowly, she started moving toward the shore, hiding underwater. It was surprising for rogues to be there, considering they were so close to the Lycan Kingdom. Unless they were reckless, no rogue would dare to attack there.
‘How many, Ulva?’
‘A lot. Too many. Be careful. We’re not strong enough, not tonight,’ Ulva said, reminding her that being demoted to omega weakened them for the next twenty-four hours. Even for an A-Class fighter at full strength, facing too many bloodthirsty rogues could be dangerous. That night, it would be suicide.
So Scarlett exited the river as silently as she could. All she needed was to make it a few steps to reenter Night Walker territory, a pack she would still be a part of until she fully transitioned into a rogue the following day.
However, several figures wearing cruel smirks blocked her path. They ogled with hungry gazes as water dripped from her hourglass figure, and her long orange hair clung to her body.
“Well, well, look what we have here, brothers. A beautiful she-wolf.” The pack leader’s eyes roamed over her naked body. “It’s rare to see such delightful beauty, isn’t it?”
Scarlett stood her ground, not letting her fear show. “Leave my way, or you’ll regret attacking an alpha breed in front of her pack,” she said in a hard tone.
“Oh?” The leader raised a mocking eyebrow. “An alpha breed with the scent of an omega? Interesting...”
Scarlett froze. She had forgotten that, for the next twenty-four hours, along with her power weakened, she would emit a strong omega scent. She swallowed hard and asked Ulva, ‘Can you take control?’
‘I can’t beat them, Scar. I don’t have enough strength to fight. You need to enter the pack at any cost,’ Ulva replied.
“Still, you cannot attack me on the border of my own pack,” Scarlett argued.
But the rogues laughed as they closed in on her. “Oh, darling, no one will come for a worthless omega like you. How about having some fun with us?”
Scarlett swallowed hard, her eyes darting around as she calculated her options. With no other choice, she sprang into action, leaping toward the border of her pack.
The leader caught her, but Scarlett refused to give up. With every ounce of strength in her, she fought back. Even in her weakened state, she managed to injure some of the rogues.
Just a step away from reaching her pack’s territory, where no one could harm her, she was struck from behind with what felt like a whip.
Ulva’s eyes widened, and a pained growl escaped her lips. ‘Wolfsbane!’
Another vicious blow followed, even harder than the first. Scarlett trembled violently before falling to her knees. Her vision blurred, and the cruel laughter of the rogues filled her ears. She had never imagined these rogues would carry wolfsbane, especially so close to the Lycans.
‘Wo-wolfsbane, Scar... I can’t move,’ Ulva groaned before the rogues forcefully pushed Scarlett to the ground.
They dragged her away by her leg. Immobile and helpless, she watched as the leader removed his clothes while the others cheered.
Tears of rage streamed down her face. What was the use of being an A-class fighter when she couldn’t do anything to protect herself? The leader hovered with hungry eyes ranking over her figure. Scarlett felt her consciousness slipping away and longed for it to happen quickly, so she wouldn’t have to endure what the leader was about to do. She closed her eyes.
A deep, powerful howl pierced the air, followed by a series of groans. Then everything fell eerily silent.
‘What’s happening, Ulva?’ Scarlett asked, trying to open her eyes. But Ulva didn’t answer. Scarlett forced herself, summoning her last ounce of strength, to force her eyelids open when she felt a warm touch. She shivered, yet this touch felt different from that of the rogues.
What was happening? Through her blurred vision, she glimpsed an oddly familiar figure. Could she be hallucinating? Maybe her mind had created a defense mechanism so she could endure the unthinkable?
Scar tried to lift her hand to reach for the figure, but failed. Then she glimpsed familiar emerald eyes gazing at her. So enchanting. Where had she seen them before?
Slowly, her strength faded, and her eyes slipped closed completely, plunging her into darkness.

Best friends, Alpha Nicholas and Beta Dave, peered at the unconscious orange-haired woman on the bed. Dave leaned toward Nicholas. “Are you sure keeping her close will make things easier?” he asked with concern.Ignoring his question, Nicholas turned to the doctor. “How long before she wakes?”“Considering the wound was caused by wolfsbane, it might take a week or more,” the doctor said. “Her body is weak, and her wolf is not in good condition. We have to be patient.” Nicholas fixed his eyes back on the beauty he had rescued from the dark forest, the very same woman who’d abruptly proposed to him at the pub. Just like the night before, she was magnificent, and he felt drawn to her. Her features were unique, especially her eyes. He couldn’t forget their distinct fiery orange flecked with silver. He had seen many women throughout his life, but had never crossed paths with any like her. She had the power to captivate with a mere glance. But was it simply a regular attraction for him? O
For the next two days, Scarlett remained in the room, resting to allow her body to recover fully. The time also allowed her to mourn her sorrows and solidify her determination to become a rogue as soon as she left there. Or perhaps she’d live among humans? Either way, she had no desire to be around people who had consistently disappointed her. Ulva had also come to accept Scarlett’s decision after witnessing her unwavering determination. During her two days of rest, the most Scarlett moved was to gaze out the window and observe the dark forest in the distance. She didn’t encounter the mysterious man, but another man named Dave visited her room once or twice a day to check on her. An appointed doctor and a nurse took care of her as well. She had questions for Dave, but he made little effort to hide his apparent disapproval of her. Unaware of the reason behind his attitude, Scarlett chose to keep her questions to herself. On the morning of the third day, she woke with renewed energy.
For a split second, Scarlett thought she might be imagining things. She stared at the man, utterly dumbfounded. Her lips parted, and she tried to argue with the coldly silent man, but nothing came out of her but a nervous breath. At that moment, Scarlett was at a loss, feeling nothing but numbness.“You... You’re not playing a joke on me, are you, Mr. Weston?” Scarlett stammered, desperately seeking some assurance.Nicholas didn’t respond; he simply stared at her with a blank expression, surprised. ‘Did she just call you, Mr. Weston? I didn’t know when you changed your fucking surname,’ Damon, his wolf, grumbled in his head.‘Shut up, Damon,’ Nicholas closed him off. He also wasn’t sure why the girl called him Mr. Weston. But now he was 100% certain of her lie. She has her intention to marry him, and that thing definitely sets him as Mr. Weston.‘Who is this Mr. Weston?’ He rammed in his head.‘Or could it be she has mistaken you as Mr. Weston.’ Damon came back again, but this time w
“Now?” Scarlett watched as her new husband pushed the contract toward Dave. Dave took the contract and walked away silently, all the while wearing that displeased expression, still doubtful of the woman.Nicholas leaned back in his seat, inspecting the woman before him. “It’s time for you to pack your things and leave with me.”Scarlett didn’t think he had another place. “Is this not where we’re gonna live?” she asked, a touch of surprise in her voice.“No... We will move into my pack, Mystic Howl...” Nicholas answered lightly.“Mystic Howl? Okay... Wait, did you say Mystic Howl!?” Scarlett suddenly felt as though she had been thrown from the seventh sky. Her life turned upside down, and suddenly, in front of that man, Scarlett felt she had really turned into an Omega. No matter what, in terms of power, she could not defeat this man. Not because he is the Alpha of the most prestigious and powerful Kingdom, but because he is a freaking Lycanthrope!A Lycan was a regal breed of werewolv
Scarlett’s eyes widened as she observed the sleek, luxurious car waiting outside the mansion. Stepping out, the realization hit her—she was still in her own pack, Night Walker. The place, nestled close to the Lycan Kingdom and rarely traversed by werewolves, felt strangely unfamiliar, sparking thoughts that perhaps she had been whisked away to another pack. The surroundings had a notorious reputation—the ‘death forest,’ a place avoided like a plague. No wolf in their right mind would want to offend a Lycan. The pack’s absence had unofficially ceded control to the Lycans, who claimed the mansion and the forbidden side of the territory as their own.Dave, with a hint of reluctance, opened the car for his new Luna. Scarlett paused, her gaze drifting towards the forest. Regardless of the circumstances, this was her home, brimming with bittersweet memories, particularly those involving Alaina, her best friend.“Get inside...” Nicholas’s voice emerged from behind, but Scarlett didn’t budge.
The car door swung open, and Nicholas extended his hand for Scarlett to take. With a deep breath, Scar emerged from the car, instantly capturing attention.Eyes in the room held a mix of surprise and reluctance, unwelcoming glances reflecting the skepticism towards the presence of a wolf with tainted blood. (Wolf blood was considered impure, tainted with a touch of magic.) Despite the less-than-enthusiastic reception, with their Alpha by her side, no one dared to voice their disapproval. Instead, heads bowed out of respect.Entering the grand castle, Scarlett anticipated a welcoming committee, but only a handful of servants bowed in acknowledgment of their Alpha. Soon, the couple entered into a huge and luxurious bedroom. The decor enchanted Scarlett as she surveyed the room. “So...” She turned to Nicholas, a spark of curiosity in her eyes, “This is where I’m gonna live?”“Hmm... This is our bedroom,” Nicholas replied.“Yeah...” Scar nodded, then inquired once more, “I thought I would
“Alpha wants to see you,” Dave informed with his usual curt expression.“Oh... Okay,” Scarlett turned to Nicole, who was watching Dave. “Hi... Dave,” Nicole said, and Dave only nodded at her, “Hello, ma’am.”The tension in Nicole’s face was clear to Scarlett. Pursing her lips, Scarlett didn’t say anything, and after saying goodbye to Nicole, she followed Dave.Passing through the hall, they entered another corridor. It was empty and slightly darker. Scarlett suddenly felt tense with the man who clearly didn’t like her. She also realized the main reason for his hatred. He was a Lycan, and she was a mere wolf whom he needed to serve. In the middle of the corridor, he suddenly paused and turned to her. “Didn’t Alpha ask you not to get too close to anyone here? Which part of this don’t you understand?” His dark eyes blazed with fury. However, Scarlett remained silent. She was really annoyed. First of all, she was not at fault when Nicole approached her. What was she supposed to do? Be r
Scar glanced at herself in the mirror, adorned in a soft pink dress that accentuated her beauty. However, the sparkle in her eyes didn’t match her outward allure; instead, they were clouded with bitter sorrows.Life hadn’t unfolded as Scarlett had meticulously planned. Always cautious and sensible in her actions, she had dreamt of a simple life—happiness with her mate and assuming the role of a peace-solving Alpha. Yet, here she was, thrust into an unknown pack of powerful shifters, surrounded by individuals who harbored a deep-seated hatred for her. On top of that, she found herself entangled in a contract with the Lycan Alpha, driven by a desire to reclaim his throne and seek revenge against George. Tragedy had become her reality.A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts, and Dave entered the room. The moment his eyes fell on Scarlett, he was taken aback but composed himself swiftly. Her enchanting appearance captivated him. ‘She is really beautiful,’ he couldn’t help but think,
