Chapter 27 Lurkers

“What’s with the long sigh, princess? Did you not get enough sleep?” I turn to Duncan, the one guy who is still persistent in making his presence known to me every chance that he gets. I had been sitting in the cafeteria and staring at my food for who knows how long until he called my attention. Normally, I wouldn’t have minded because I have gotten used to him, but right now, it just annoys me. I still try to be civil and keep my temper in check.

“Hey, Duncan. Where are the others?” I ask while trying my best to smile pleasantly at him.

“Oh, the others? They’re still getting lunch.” He points to where the others are lining up with their trays, just like the other students. Duncan starts to sit across from me while I pretend to eat the burger on my plate.
