To Chasm's surprise, Varnas succeed in getting another three sotons out of the Dagerstanteens. Their new alien owner, Rhylent, bought the energy rope and secured the band around his wrists. The whole time Rhylent tied his hands together, a muscle in his jaw twitched with annoyance. Even though the alien was clearly irritated, his tentacles never pushed or shoved. He was gentle as he made the bindings tight but not so rough as to dig into Chasm's skin.
