"Alaris?"

I stepped inside his office without worrying about the formalities since the door was already partially opened. It made me assume that he must have been not busy.

"Sera?" He looked over his shoulder to meet me in the eye.

"Umm… the one and only." My lips curled up in a small smile instinctively as I tried to make light of the situation. He looked like he needed it. But then again, it was Alaris in the question, he always looked like he needed someone to lighten him up. All of his screws were wound too tight.

"What brings you here?" He turned around to face me, his hands folded behind his back as he stood tall like an unmoving rock.

"It wasn't anything important. I just came here to thank you." I shook my head as I took a couple of steps towards the center of the room where he was standing.

"For what exactly?" His frown deepened just as his face twisted into a displeased scowl. Sometimes I couldn't help but wonder about him getting wrinkles way before his
