chapter 1: Eight Long Years

Jamie:

“Eight good years, and my daughter is nowhere to be found and you are celebrating your son's coronation?” Alpha Daryl slammed the table in front of my father.

“Alpha Daryl, you need to calm down and I am sure that your daughter…”

He interrupted Father, “Stop asking me to calm down, didn’t you say that six years ago, four years ago, and now it’s eight fucking years and you are still using the same words, you will find my daughter.”

“Alpha, I have sent my men into the big city, I have searched the neighboring pack and I am sure, even though we haven’t found her. Tiffany is still alive, I have this strong feeling she is still alive and you haven’t felt any broken bond for the past years, which means that Tiffany is still alive.”

“find my daughter, I don’t care, how you do it?” he hit the table as he grabbed the door of father’s office only to come face to face with me, in all these years, I have never set eyes on him. Father had to make sure that I didn’t come in contact with him, although I am not a coward. But a live dog is better than a dead lion, I would rather be alive to search for Tiffany than to be dead and not be able to look for Tiffany, I never stop searching and hoping that one day I will find Tiffany.

“Uncle Daryl?”

“Don’t you fucking call me uncle, I am not your uncle.” Saying that he grabbed my throat.

“Daryl,” Father growled at him. he too howled, pushing me off his grip, as he darted out of the room, I sighed, I won’t blame him, Tiffany was all that he had with his Luna, losing her all these years wasn’t easy for them, I wondered how Luna Hazel will be feeling, so many times, I wanted to go to her, especially every year that Tiffany added a year to her age but mother will always say no, alpha Daryl’s territory is out of bound for me. I wish I could do things differently, turn back the hands of the clock, but I can’t. I am just an asshole of an Alpha, Mother had always told me that Aunty Hazel was in love with my father before he fall for her, and she had gone through a lot before she found Her mate, which happened to be Uncle Daryl. Losing my dad wasn’t easy for her and now I have made her lose her daughter. It seemed that father and I have brought nothing but trouble for her and her daughter.

“Father,” I called, he moved his gaze to me and glared.

“Jamie, let me be, it’s bad enough that you curse nothing but trouble to me, did you know what I go through every day knowing that my actions were hurting Hazel, she is not just my friend, she is like a sister, I never have and she was there for Grandma and me when we have no one, I failed her when I couldn’t reciprocate her love because I was madly in love with your mother, not that I regret it because I couldn’t look at other females the way I look at her, for years, I was trying to make it up to her for all my actions and what led her into doing everything she did against me and your mother, she lost everything, including her father, the alpha and now she is warming up to us, your stubbornness as brought us here.”

“Father, I am sorry…”

“Sorry, will that fix it? I told you specifically, don’t ever stay away from Sky, but what did you do, you want to show off that you have your wolf, I wasn’t stupid when I asked you to go everywhere with Sky, even when I know that you have your wolf but no, the stubborn you, will always defile my order.”

“Father, I didn’t mean to…”

He interrupted me, “That is enough, you are now the Alpha, I hope that you will learn to think before you act and not be a dick.” I twitched my lips, I know what is inching to talk about, I have so many shortcomings, yes, I am an asshole, a fuck boy and sometimes, I doubt if I could make a good Alpha. Don’t blame me, if I become an asshole, I have those numerous girls on my bed because I can’t concentrate when all my problem becomes unbearable. They are like my painkillers. Father took to his feet, and he dropped a picture on the table, as he walked out. “Even if I fuck around, I didn’t do it with my Pack female, they are off limits, because it doesn’t tell well of a good Alpha.” My eyes moved to the picture on the table, as he smashed the door behind me, it was me kissing Sofia at the club, I ran my hand through my hair, as a smile tugged on my lips, remembering her a tempest the female was but she is not my mate. Then the alarm of my phone rang, it’s a notification that Tiffany’s birthday it’s in a few weeks. “fuck, I forget.” I cursed as I pushed the door of the office as well, my beta was standing lazily on the door flame.

“I am sorry,” Beta Brake apologized and I looked at him, “I didn’t know that she would take pictures of you kissing her.”

I chuckled, “Is that what you are apologizing for?” He nodded feeling guilty, beta Brake, is the son of my father’s beta, Beta Rex. Beta Brake, Gamma Caldwell, and I grew up in Shadow Moon Pack, they have been my friends since we were younger alongside Tiffany, before she went missing.

“It’s my fault…”

“It's not your fault, and where is that asshole of a Gamma,” I asked wanting to change the topic.

“That? don’t you know that fellow, I went to his room but the place was all locked sending him a mind link, and he told me to get off his head, he is busy.” I titter knowing that Gamma must be having a female on his bed.

“You too should go look for one, 'cause I am not available to chitchat with you,” I told my beta.

“I could tag along,”

“No,” he raised his hand in surrender, knowing that I might be in a bad mood, I always like to be alone whenever I am in this mood.

“I better leave, wrong timing.” I chuckled at his actions, he doesn’t want anything strong, he is the opposite of his father, I never thought demons could be gentle, Beta Brake was extraordinarily gentle. I got into my car and drove off.

Brittany:

Looking at myself in the mirror, I feel contented with what I am wearing, and with my beauty, each day, I fall in love with the woman that I am turning into, everything seemed fixed but something was wrong, how do I get out of the building without alerting anyone, I pushed my head out of my room door, there was no one at the stairway, so I make my way down and then I still have one more obstacle to overcome which is the Alpha’s Office, when the door came in view it was lock so I let out a smile, I was almost out the door to the main building when I heard a voice.

“Sneaking out again.” I frown knowing who has come out of the office.

“Hi brother,” I said smiling sheepishly at him, hoping I could win him with my sweet smile. He didn’t change his expression.

“Where are you going dressed so sexy?”

“Come on Callaghan, I just want to step out, I promise I am not going to take long.”

“You should go with beta…”

“No brother, I don’t want to go with him.”

“Is it because you want to go be with that asshole of a boyfriend of yours? You and I know…”

“Brother stop it, Ethel is not an asshole and he is not forcing me to do what I don’t want to do.” Callaghan didn’t like the idea of me having Ethel as my boyfriend.

“He won’t even dare, if he wants to live to see the day he becomes the alpha of Night Wing Pack, he wouldn’t dare touch you.” I frown at his words.

“Come on, I am no longer a kid, I could care for myself, I am all grown up, I may not know my real age but with everything forming on my body, I know I might be eighteen or nineteen,” I watch him gasped then pulled me into a hug, “I only want to protect you, I don’t want anything to happen to you,”

“And nothing will happen to me, because I have such a wonderful big brother.” When his face softens, with his lips curved into a nice smile, he looks handsome when he is not grumpy and I miss his smile but that smile is no longer coming regularly since he became an alpha. I know I have won, and he is going to let me go. “can I go now brother?” he smiled pushing my head slightly.

“Fine, you should go, if he tries anything stupid with you, just let me know through the mindlink, and beta Richford, is coming with you.”

“I thought…”

“No, I will let him go with you but I will tell him to leave the very minute you get into Ethel’s car. You are too precious for me to turn my sight away from.” I frowned but he cupped my face, I know he always says his beta will turn away after dropping me but he always ends up staying. “please bear with brother, he is just too scared to put you in danger, I hope you understand.”

“Yes, I do,”

“Good girl, now go on,”

“Yes sir,” I kissed his forehead, as I ran towards the door.

“And come home on time,” I nodded rushing out, giving beta Richford a girlish smile as I sat at the seat beside him, after giving him the description of where to take me, I just rested lazily on the chair headrest.

My name is Brittany Zachary, is that even my name? I sighed as the thought of not knowing who I was crept into my head. Callaghan found me eight years ago in the human territory, he said when he found me, I was covered with blood and I was badly hurt, so he took me in and cared for me, although he was just sixteen he knew he had to protect me and bring me to his Pack. At first alpha Zachery didn’t like the idea of his sixteen-year-old son bringing a little girl into his house, but he had no choice but to accept that his son wanted to protect me. Alpha Zachery was hoping that when I opened my eyes, I could tell them where I came from but I didn’t remember anything, I lost my memory, the doctor said shock had driven me into loss of memory, and I was suffering from amnesia. So there is nothing I remember about my past, not even my name, Callaghan had named me after his late sister.

Callaghan is hoping that I will get my memory but if I didn’t get it, he said he is never going to stop loving me and he is going to adopt me. Crazy how a twenty-four-year-old adopts a teenager if not a young adult. “Are you there now?” I tittered as a voice came into my head.
