Chapter 50: One Step at a Time

"I'd like us to start over, Gray," Judah said, distracting her whether to tell the kiss or not. "One step at a time." He kissed her on her forehead and stood up. "You've been crying all day, and I'm sure you spent a lot of time crying and thinking about the man you marked."

Gray nodded quickly.

"I want to find and kill him," she replied.

"Don't worry. I'll help you find him but promise you will stay with me. You need to transfer to my room so I can protect you," he said.

"What about Faye? Aren't you lovers?"

Judah shook his head.

"No," he replied. "And where did you get that idea? She was like my sister," Judah laughed, which made Gray smile.

"Because she's always with you like she was actually your wife and Queen," she answered.

Judah looked at Gray, eye to eye. He could see the sadness in her eyes, and the doubts lingered on them.

"She was just a sister for me and nothing else," he replied.

The two of them talked all through the night, with Gray sleeping in Judah's room.
