The door closed behind Rafe with a final, resounding thud. I stood there, frozen, unable to breathe. My heart pounded in my chest like a war drum, each beat louder than the last. The silence of my chambers felt suffocating, and the realization of what I'd just done hit me like a tidal wave. Rafe had really gone and it was all my fault. I had tried to send him out of my room, out of my life. I hadn't intended to push him away but it seemed like he had given up on us.

What did I actually do?
