The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate
.Chapter 5: might be a realization.“Do you believe me now? That I’m your mate?.” I whispered allowing a stray tear to fall down my eye.“Do you really think that I would readily believe you to be my mate?.” He asks, his voice low as it sends chills down my spine.“B-But you just—.”“Maria!.”He called out a name and the old woman who had been watching since came forward and bowed before him a total 90 degree.“You can take her. Add her to your entourage.” He says finally removing his hand from my face as he lifts himself up to stand.“Yes your honor.” She replies still not lifting her face up.His hand which had been serving me warmth was gone and that made me cold.“No! Wait.” I argue.Abruptly, and not wanting him to leave, I grab his hand pulling him back to face me and his eyes widen out of shock not expecting me to do that.“What more proof do you need again?!” I asserted out of confidence. “You did this!.” I let go of his hand to point at my now smooth face and directing the finger to point back at his own scarred face. “See? You took my scar! Only mates take each other scars. Isn’t that enough for you?.” I asked frantically desperate for him to believe me.I didn’t want to get sent to whatever entourage that the old lady had. I don’t want that. I don’t know what an entourage here his castle entails but I’m sure nobody would want that ...I needed him to believe me...But the way he stared at me expressionless...I knew he didn’t believe me..But why?“Why won’t you believe me?.” I whispered, hurt forming in my voice as I stared back at him.“I healed you.” He says back to me simply. “Because I can.”Reaching out, he removed my hand from his and dropped it. I stared at him stunned as he stood up straight and turned around walking away.“You can’t leave yet! You need to believe me!.” I yelled out desperately for him to hear me but he walked straight ahead not showing any emotion to the pain of someone shouting out loud.Realizing that he wasn’t going to answer me, I let the few tears forming a pool in my eyes fall.My mate just walked out on me!Our bond aches as my omega was feeling distraught, confused and pained all in one.The guard behind me who had attacked me mercilessly forced me to stand up yanking me by my right hand. I lifelessly let him drag me to my feet as I stared at the open space in which the King has just walked through. He really left ...“Let her be, Zedd.” ‘Maria’, the old woman finally spoke lifting her head to look at me.The guard did so reluctantly and walked back to standing in a position few meters away from us.“You must be tired, come.” Maria stretched her hand out towards me.My eyes were still focused on the large empty hallway.Perhaps if I look hard enough then my alpha might come to save me, who knows?“Come, my child.” She reaches out for my palm instead and places her hand in mine softly dragging me away.“What if he comes back and sees I’m not waiting for him?.” I ask afraid to hear the a answer.Maria pats my palm that’s in hers as she answers me. “He won’t see because he’s not coming back.”“Why not?.” My lips a blubbering mess as I fight hard not to burst into tears as we walk together through the large silent hallways. “An alpha doesn’t leave his fated like that, I’m his.” I say yet again just not confident this time around.Alpha Mattel leaving me like that makes me rethink if he’s actually my mate or not.“You wouldn’t understand.” The old woman says. And I don’t ask any questions again after that.*KING MATTEL POV*In the quiet study room of the castle, King Mattel felt a mix of strong emotions. The flickering candlelight made shadows move on the walls as he walked around, feeling overwhelmed by his feelings. With each step, the sound echoed in the quiet room, matching the beating of his heart. His mind raced with thoughts of the prophecy that had troubled him for a long time, its words stuck in his mind like an inescapable curse.Mattel's hands shook as he reached for the old scroll on his desk, its paper yellow with age. He unrolled it slowly, as if he was afraid to face what it said. The words seemed to tease him as he read them again, their meaning unclear and mysterious."The cursed alpha shall find his mate, but she shall loathe him with every fiber of her being. Only through intimate contact with his mate shall the curse be lifted, and the alpha shall find redemption in her embrace."“So basically she’s to hate me the moment she meets me.” Mattel muttered to himself thinking.Mattel's brow furrowed in frustration as he struggled to decipher the prophecy's message. He groaned sitting back on the chair in his study room. How could he be expected to find redemption in the arms of a woman who despised him?Mattel sat back thinking of the omega’s statements. Her words were like spitfire and that was indeed the first time that someone had said something that spite him.Her eyes when she started talking were entrancing, it was hard to look away from her. And her lips …Mattel wondered where she had been all this while and why he had never come across her before.Just thinking about her made him hard. And that has never been possible before.Mattel’s mind consumed with a maddening desire that threatened to overwhelm him. His chest heaved with each breath, his heart pounding furiously against his ribcage. The weight of his arousal bore down upon him like a suffocating blanket, leaving him dizzy and disoriented. He staggered to his desk and sank into the ornate chair, his hands trembling as he thought of a ‘what if’.What if she was the one this time?Mattel has been presented more than 50 girls a year since he became king and he had never felt attraction to any one of them till today. He didn’t just feel attraction towards her, he was also curious of what effect she was going to have on him too.He rested back on the chair closing his eyes.Regina.She had claimed to be his too much for him not to believe her. And even if he wanted to, how would he know that she was telling the truth?..TBCThe Alpha King’s Runaway Mate.Chapter 6: impatient thirst for bloodlust.Prince Damian has just donned his mask, prepared to head to the ballroom, when his commander, Storm appears in the doorway. He’s wearing a grim, if mildly exasperated expression, eyes solemn and glinting like steel in the moonlight. “The festivities may have to wait, just a moment,” Storm says lightly, though his cheerful tone still manages to belie a dark edge.Prince Damian stills.“I’m afraid there’s a matter with an...uninvited guest.”The two of them share a hint of a frigid smile. When Prince Damian arrives at the cold, dank holding cells underneath the castle - seldom used, and the existence of which is very well hidden from most of the unsuspecting inhabitants of the palace - he finds a man bruised and bloody and shackled to the wall in the first cell.Damian gazes at him through bored, lidded eyes. “I’m afraid you’ve caught us at a bad time,” he says. “We’re a little busy to entertain you the way su
The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate.Chapter 7: an impossible remedy .REGINA’s POV“Wake up, wake up, wake up.”A voice keeps on chanting drifting into my sleep.I groan wanting the noise to go away as I roll on to the other side.“Come on, my child, you can’t sleep the whole day. There are things to do.”My eyebrows furrowed as those words resounded in my head.Things to do?Wait, who owns that voice? And ....I snuggled deeper on the pillow. Why is it so soft? And why hasn’t he come to wake me up yet?And with that, I suddenly became aware of my surroundings as I opened my eyes, nothing coming to my head as I tried to think of where I could.“My child ?.”I swiftly turned sideways to see an elderly woman standing surprisingly upright next to the side of the bed I was in.“Hii ?.” I replied confused managing to raise my hand up to wave a little.I take a look around the large room recalling why I was here in the first place.“Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten ..”“No I haven’t.” I clenched
The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate .Chapter 8: taking a chance .*KING MATTEL* “She has given you all right to sleep with someone else if you wish, Mattel.” Maria informed him.“Who does she think she is? First coming here claiming me as her mate and now this.” He rolled his eyes. “I didn’t need her permission in the first place, I have been doing that before she came along and I might continue to.”“She IS your mate, Mattel!.” Head Maid Maria insisted as she tried to talk to the king. The king stared at her with no expression in his face as he repeated the words. “I do not have a mate.”“You do and she’s the one, I really believe her to be the one that you have been looking for all this while.” Maria argued before sighing. “You have a mate, you do, even the prophesy said—.”“That my mate shall despise me.” King Mattel completed the sentence. “Tell me, Maria, is that not equivalent of not having a mate? Because how can I have a mate and yet it looks like I’m without one. And why is she
The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate. Chapter 9: a contest for his heart? .Regina stared around dreamily as she walked into the large royal kitchen. Everything, the cabinets, the sinks, the cupboards, they was just so huge compared to her kitchen back when she was living with her stupid ass step father of a person. She sighed remembering that it was him who got her into this mess in the first place which although fortunately led her to meeting her mate, it’s still rather unfortunate considering the fact that her mate didn’t even know her or even was able to smell her.Which was the worst thing for a wolf to ever have. Because having a mate was equivalent to the idea of a human finding they’re ‘the one’ and now that Regina has found him, he hasn’t found her. She has always dreamed of the day that her mate would run along and snatch her from the wicked hands of her fate, and she has always thought the future person to be someone who would be her Prince Charming, someone would probably t
Alpha Easton’s Runaway Mate.Chapter 10: alluding delusions . A frown came on Regina’s face as she attempted to correct the stupid sounding blonde who was speaking to her. “But the king gave me permission to be in his castle yesterday. If what you said is true, why didn’t he throw me out after not believing that I am his mate?.”“What?.” The smile immediately vanished from the blonde’s face as she stared at Regina trying to see if she could get any hint of a lie in her but it was clearly obvious that she wasn’t lying. “That isn’t true.” The blonde muttered backing away a little. “You are not supposed to be here.”“But I am here, am I not.” Regina says arching an eyebrow up as she looks up and down at the girl finally observing her the way she wanted. “Who are you?.” She asked feeling smug about the new found gained confidence over the girl. The blonde girl cleared her throat suddenly straightening up to look more superior. “I am Annalise, my father is one of this kingdom’s highly
The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate.Chapter 11: court me .“Are you alright?.” Alpha Mattel’s voice was directed to her as his eyes stared back at her form.Annalise stared in disbelief as if not accepting the fact that the king could ever be concerned.Mattel still got the nonchalant expression less face but Regina didn’t care. She got his attention and she was very much determined to keep it.“Ahh. My head hurts.” Regina cried out deciding to take advantage of the situation now that she had the king right where she wanted. She tapped at her scalp faking an outburst of cry immediately. “Oh it aches!.”“You peasant!.” Annalise cussed out straight away not caring about the third presence as the look of distaste was in her face as she stared at Regina. “I didn’t even hurt you, stop faking shit!.”“Annalise! That’s enough from you.” The king called again, more authoritative than before. “Let her be, you can leave.” He said indicating towards the exit.“W-What?.” Annalise spluttered surprise
The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate.Chapter 12: fear, as time passed .Regina checks the book collection again, this time with the revelation that it had been King Mattel who’d put these books here; that these books are his, and that he’d curated a particular selection to place in Regina’s room. She had already noticed before, when they were brought in, that the twenty something books were of every varied genre. She realizes now, it might be because Mattel did not know what kinds of books Regina liked - that he’d been considerate enough to think of this, and then to include a wide variety of genres.Regina picks one of the books up, peering closely at the binding, the page edges and even going as far as to flick through the book carefully, looking for signs of wear. All the books are in impeccable condition, but upon closer inspection, he can see that all of the books have, in fact, been read at least once; and that some even show subtle signs of having been read several times, such as
The Alpha King’s Runaway Mate.Chapter 13: a getaway .“Did she like the books, then?”Clang.Mattel grits his teeth and just barely manages to bring his sword up in time to avoid an untimely and particularly grisly death at the edge of Lionel’s blade. His personal bodyguard and head of his military team- as per usual - is in irritatingly top form, as he whirls elegantly in circles around Mattel.Mattel’s a skilled swordsman, and easily one of the most talented even among Lionel’s army’s ranks, but Mattel himself has always been in a league of his own.On most days, it’s the reason why Mattel chooses Lionel to be his sparring partner, to keep his skills sharp. On days like today, however, all it does is irritate his nerves at the beaming smile the Commander wears while they spar, as if it takes no effort at all to pummel Mattel to the ground.“I would think so, yes,” Mattel huffs, more out of breath than he cares to admit. He ducks, just a second before Lionel’s blade goes flying ri
