Unexpected Presence

Emily's appearance at the mobile home is, as intended, greeted with shock.

Jack looks at her like she is some sort of strange plant that he had never seen before, and it is a moment before he can bring himself to speak. His mind is rushing, trying to decide the best way to convince her to stay (for he believes she is not here to stay, even though he doesn't know the reason she is here) long enough for her to be found by the right people.

After a long silent battle with his own thoughts, he decides on something. His face splits up in a smile, showing her his perfect dental formula that she had once found to be very attractive.

But now all she feels in his presence is repulsion, the kind of hatred that nothing can ever come close to.

It has always been hard for her to pretend, and so she fails to smile back. She knows that his smile is fake and also knows his cunning mind has already cooked up a plan to trap her, punish her or some other crazy thing, and she hopes he doesn't do that. Bec
