Chapter Sixty

The early Sunday morning sunlight streamed through the small kitchen window, casting a gentle glow on Marcella and her Nana as they sat at the breakfast table, engaged in warm conversation. Her Nana had missed dinner the previous night claiming she was tired and needed to rest so she had gotten up really early to make her favourite breakfast that morning.

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the sweet scent of pancakes. As they chatted, sharing stories and laughter, a sudden change in her Nana's demeanour caught her attention. The vibrant sparkle in her eyes dulled, and her cheerful voice grew faint. Her heart clenched with worry, a sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach as she dropped her cup of coffee and instinctively reached out, her hand gently grasping her trembling fingers.

"Nana, are you okay?" She inquired in a worried tone as she noticed how hot her hands felt and quickly stood up to help support her.
