28. Calm before the storm.

Ava was breathing heavily as she sat on the bed and stared at the floor.

A few minutes later Ashely came to her as well and sat down beside her and gave her a glass of water.

Ava took the glass of water and drank it, before Ashely took it and kept it away.

“I understand that you are worried about Amber.” Ashley said, “but you are hurting her mother, in the worst way possible.”

Ava sighed as she kept on staring at the floor and Ashely said, “making her feel excluded, unwanted, worthless, and useless is not the way to protect her.

You are just ruining her mentally and pushing her away. What will you do if she really left the pack someday?”

Ava’s eyes widened and she clenched her fists when she heard that.

She looked at Ashley and she was also looking back at Ava, “you won't be able to stop her mother if one day she does sever the pack link then.”

“You can give her a command, and she can’t leave without the Alpha’s permission,” Ava said.
