“Darling, we’re over your pack. Time to wake up.” Magnus' voice woke me from a very deep slumber, a yawn leaving my lips the moment I opened my eyes. I sat up and held onto his neck spikes, shivering at the chill in my bare toes as we descended through the clouds, the pack lands coming into focus as Magnus made for the big open space of the training grounds, cries and shouts being heard as everyone caught sight of us.
He descended in slow arcing moves till he lowered to the ground with a very grateful landing, dropping the bags to the side and allowing me to climb down. The moment my feet touched the ground he started to shift back so I turned with a blush and pulled out a pair of jeans from his bag and held them out to him. I turned to the gathered crowd as I saw the various looks of shock at seeing a dragon up close and spotted Varin in the front. He nodded in greeting before whistling and telling every
Let me know what you people think!...I really hope my parents don't read this chapter lol
“We need to talk, Silas. There’s a lot to tell you and I know that some of it is going to make you pissed off.” I said with a sigh, looking at him as he tilted his head to look up at me. I sat up and held the sheet around me, watching him as he sat up and looked at me with a concerned frown, a guarded expression on his face. “What do you mean Kara? Why would I be pissed off about what happened to you on the island?” I sighed once more and ran my hands through my hair before placing them in my lap and fiddling with my fingers as I watched him. “When I went to the island, I discovered something shocking about my mother, her name was Yarrow and she was a dragon, from a line of royalty. She left home when she fell in love with my father, she gave up her dragon and was going to live her days as a human, however, when my father marked her she gained the abili
I went into Tristan’s holding cell, gasping as I smelt the burning of his skin and the silver that was on his wrists, feet and neck. Overkill seeing as he was in a silver-barred holding cell. I growled low in annoyance and left the room, going to the control room for a set of keys before going back into the cell with Tristan. I unlocked the cell and went to him, unlocking the cuffs from his wrists then his ankles, his eyes fluttering open as I unlocked the cuff around his neck. He bolted upright with a snarl but as he reached for me he came to his senses and flopped back with an exhausted groan. “What are you doing in here?” he rasped, his voice gravelly and his throat burned and bruised from the silver cuff. I hissed, no longer able to ignore the stinging in my fingers and tossed all the cuffs behind me and outside of the cell. I went to the table with bottles of water designed to taunt him with what he
I made my way up the stairs and flopped onto my bed, curling up and inhaling Silas’s scent, sighing as it still brought me comfort. This was not how I wanted the day to play out but I saw no other way. It had to be this way. I grabbed my phone off my bedside table and went into the bathroom, turning on the water as I called Magnus, wanting to fill him in on everything. “Darling. I didn’t expect to hear from you so soon.” His voice was smooth and warm over the phone, immediately bringing a smile to my face. “Some things have changed. I didn’t mean for it to happen, it just did. Silas is aware of me being a dragon now, I filled him in on what that entails. Naturally, he is pissed but I couldn’t keep it from him. It led to a much-needed conversation. He knows I’ll never accept him as my mate. I can’t. I’m going to reject him. First I let Tristan go, made it look
The door to the bedroom banged open, smacking against the wall behind it and causing us both to snap awake and sit up, alert for a threat. I huffed and relaxed when I saw Varin standing in the doorway, a frown forming as I noticed the worried look on his face. Silas stood up and pulled on his jeans from the floor and looked at his Beta. “What’s going on Varin, why are you worried?” Silas asked as he quickly pulled a shirt over his head. “The council member Magnus Horne is here with Alpha Kane and some of his warriors. They won’t say why they’re here until the two of you come down to meet them.” He spoke quickly, his eyes flickering to me before he focused on Silas, his face giving away nothing. “What the fuck. Why in the hell is this happening? Do you have any idea, Kara?” Silas asked as he turned to me with a fr
I watched as people shifted and looked on in curiosity and I could feel the unease and anger of the warriors who wanted Silas to fight and take the pack from me. I may have looked calm on the outside but inside my stomach was a churning mess of nerves and worry. This was a big decision and I wouldn't blame them if they wanted to fight but I would not let them take the pack from me, not again. With a roar the warrior who spoke out against me rushed me, intending to tackle me to the ground. Since I was smaller and quicker than him I side-stepped him and gave him two hard hits to the kidneys. A bit of a cheap shot, but then again so was bull-rushing someone who wasn’t even facing you. : No, stay back. I need to handle this on my own or even my own people won’t take me seriously : I mind-linked Kane to stop as I saw him from the corner of my eye make a move to st
“If the other pack will accept me as Alpha, then I will happily take the responsibility.” Silas spoke after a moment of quiet contemplation. “I won't have killed to secure the position so I hope they will look on that better at least.” “I can go ahead to the pack now and let them know what’s going on, let your warriors know as well so they can make that decision for themselves as well if that’s alright with you Alpha.” Alaric said as he turned to me, a charming smile on his face. I smiled slightly and nodded, glancing around at everything and quickly deciding on a game plan. “That’s fine Alaric, it’s a good idea. You have a relationship with all of them, they will know you speak the truth. In the meantime and in the midst of all the confusion I don’t want my borders unprotected. Alpha Kane, would it be alright if your warriors do patrol?” I asked as I turned
I woke early the next morning, well before the sun was up and felt restless. I sat up and stretched out my stiff muscles, standing up from my makeshift bed on my office couch. I had been working late and just decided to crash on my couch. That and I didn’t want to go back to the house and fall asleep in an empty bed that still smelt of Silas. I would have to make time later today to strip the bed and wash my sheets.I sighed and looked out the window, seeing the sky dark still with just a hint of lightness creeping in, signalling that the sun would be rising soon. I put my shoes on and left my office and the building, making the small trek back to the house and walking back around it. I wrapped my arms around my torso to block out some of the morning chill and made the short journey to my pond, sitting down on my favourite rock c
The next week was a very busy one, a lot of shuffling around and trying to get things sorted but somehow we managed to smooth it out as much as possible. The families that decided to stay behind were set to swear their fealty to me on Sunday when I was officially sworn in as Alpha of Ravenfield, a traditional ceremony that was supposed to be performed by the previous Alpha or another blood Ravenfield. With my dad and uncle gone, Gram would be performing the ceremony, she may not be a blood Ravenfield, but she was the closest we had and I was sure that the spirits of the pack would accept her as a suitable replacement. The majority of the warriors and single wolves, the ones that had been placed here during the take over with Silas so for the time being Kane was leaving his warriors with me and Ezra and Echo have stayed as well. Tristan and Elle with the other scouts have been working really well with Kane
