CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX

Michael’s POV

We finally got home after the irritating traffic.

"Dad, will you tuck me to bed?” Dylan asked as we ate dinner. I smiled; no scratch that, I grinned. A wide tooth shows one. This boy was making me emotionally aware. Was this what I missed when I wasn’t with him? I would trade days of boring meetings with the elders to play hide and seek with him if I could.

"Yes, son,” I said, and Nora’s face mirrored mine. When she noticed that I was looking at her, the smile on her face vanished like a ghost. I smiled.

Dinner was spaghetti with meat balls. Hercules and Mia had been sharing looks all through dinner. By now, they should know that all of us knew there was something going on between them. I badly wanted to taunt Hercules about it, but Mia was still mourning. Her smile after they came back from the ice cream buying was a beautiful one. She hasn’t been like that since Marcel happened.

Zen coughed and looked at them, and then I knew he was going to talk.

"Hercules,” he began.
