Chapter 16. Evasive Action
Just as Maven had expected of her, within mere moments of her own shriek and Donivan brief outburst, Lady Nox had made her way into the kitchen with a haste.
“Do pray tell…” Her words were low with base. While they she was, by all accounts testing the those staff in the kitchen, “…just what is going on in this kitchen…” a blatant and daring threat was laced within them, “…to warrant such an outburst from, not one but both of you, so loudly that our guests could hear and began asking questions?” Combined with the pitch-black vehemence that could only glower from the Raven Queen’s pure black iris’.
While Seraphina shared a very close resemblance to her mother, thus being dubbed the, “black diamond,” or “dark gem,” of the Raven Harpy Clan; the elder twin princessChapter 17. The Dining Room Echoes of a sharp and shrieking scream had pierced through the chatter in the dining room. Both that of the adults and that of the young harpies this had been intended for; for them to be able to meet and get to know one another before possibly being mated for life. “…Is…everything okay?” It was young Master Lucas who broke the silence to ask the question. Lady Nox looked extremely embarrassed and mortified with a stabbing twist of anger that contorted her features. It looked very unbecoming for a lady of her stature but no one dared say anything else. Yet, everyone in the room wondered what was going on. Young Master Fenn of the Tawny Harpies had looked inquiring and inquisitively at Seraphina for an answer. She had just shrugged in response to the question which had been
Chapter 18. He Is Not Human. He Is Not Dead. Meanwhile, back in the Noble District of the Raven Kingdom, Sephora had just finished her shower and stepped out of the basin. Grabbing one of the Doctor’s fresh towels from the cupboard inside the shower room. This was very unlike the large baths that the castle had. A lovely steaming soak in the bathing chamber would have went perfectly to help relax after such a scary fright, seeing the ancient forest have a whole section of it destroyed! Then being covered in blood and wrecking her favourite, normal looking velvet black dress and worse, causing Maven and Donivan a fright seeing her appear in a very worrying looking state. It had been Maven’s quick thinking that sent Sephora down to the Nobles District to find the Doctor, known as Ingram. He sometimes worked on medical calls to the castle, so the youn
Chapter 19. Old Raven Tales Struck with shock at the Doctors words, Sephora gasped as she narrowed her icy blue eyes at him. Her pale, almost white skin, furrowing at her brow. How on earth can the Doctor just stand there and presume that this man… isn’t a human? If he wasn’t a human then what else was he?! This irritated Sephora somewhat. She might be the more nieve and easy going of the twin princesses but by no means was she dumb. Anyone would be a fool to think otherwise of her. “Explain yourself quickly, Ingram...” Restraining her impulses, the princess directed the harpy Doctor to continue. “ The princess, felt very much, insulted. “If that man is not human,” further emphasising her intellect she pointed with her index finger to the cleaned up body on the operating table and extended one of her p
Chapter 20. Needs and Whims Catered For, After the formal late lunch organised by Lady Nox, the Raven Queen. She had dismissed everyone to enjoy the castle grounds at their leisure. There was nothing off limits but advised her guests that the cellars were mainly used for storage places by the household help and that she couldn’t imagine that there would be of anything of interest to guests of their calibre down in such places. The only outlier to this point would be the wine cellar. Lord Fielder raised this point, as he had thoroughly enjoyed the Raven Queen’s hospitality and more particularly the blood wine which… as rumours among the Harpy Clan’s went, that the Raven Kingdom had a treasure trove wine cellar full of it. While Lady Nox was glad that Lord Fielder had enjoyed the hospitality, it irked her that he should feel the need to verify such gossiping himself. &
Chapter 21. A Drunken King Rouault Now that Queen Nox had left the late lunch, bordering on dinner, social event to return to her work, as the sole ruler of her Kingdom. As well as Seraphina – the dazzling delight of the evening had taken her to leave – having left, one by one all of the remaining guests left the dining room in their respective groupings. The first pair, chaperone and young eligible bachelor, to leave had been King Rouault and Prince Kavan. The former, staggered and wabbled in his pace. His young Prince supported his weight from his shoulder, hugging his side with one arm. Despite this, the King seemed to pay his son no mind. “Honestly,” The young owlet chastised, “You may have overdone it with the blood wine.” The older Tawny owl spluttered and slurred. Being drunk elongated his hooting accent to a comical degree, “Yooou knooow…” he began, “It shooould be me whooo tells yooo ooooff, yoooungster.” The younger peacock prince, Prince Caruso and Queen
Chapter 22. Free Time Around the Castle: Master Fenn While Master Fenn had done his best to close the door to the room gently, trying his best not to cause the ironmongery to squeak under the palm of his hands. The truth was that Master Fenn could have slammed it for all that it would have mattered and the young owl knew it better than anyone else present in the Raven Kingdom would. Lord Fielder would not wake now, until the alcohol wore off in his system and by then, he would be craving gallons and gallons of water to quench a thirst that seemed as though it would never end. He signed as he walked down a different hallway than the one he had approached the room from. Partly, because he did not want to run into the Peacocks or the Eurasians right now. Master Fenn was already angry at them as it was and he wasn’t naturally an angry owl by nature. More often he was v
Chapter 23. Awaiting Opportunity Lady Cassandra and young Master Caruso, those from the Peacock Harpy’s Royaly, had been the next pair out of the dining room, once the drunken Lord Fielder had left, – being supported by the young tawny he was supposed to be chaperoning. Now and again, small bubbles of giggles and chuckles would surface, from their lungs to their lips. Usually, Master Caruso did not get on well with his mother. Especially surrounding the topic of wanting a mate who was not a peacock. He thought beige was boring and refused to marry a woman who… was just plainly and blatantly boring. Initially, Lady Cassandra had taken no issue with this. It was well known, and widely accepted among all of the harpy Clan’s, that peacock males had a vanity like no other. Requiring absolute beauty within their mates. It was because of precisely this, that the P
Chapter 24. Council of Owls & Code of Conduct The last group of Harpy to leave the dining room, following the late lunch and both Seraphina and Lady Nox, the Raven Queens’ departure to continue the obligations that came with her ruling a Kingdom as a widowed Queen, was the Eurasian Eagle Owl Harpy. As they walked up the corridor; the group turned in the direction of their room, around several more turns and a few doors up. It did not seem to take long and the brothers were in high spirits – slightly tipsy after a few glasses of the blood wine themselves. Not enough that they had almost complete loss of bodily functions. Such as that, they had witnessed, of Lord Fielder. Who was supposed to be chaperoning Master Fenn, had ended up having to use the young owlet as a crutch to get him back to his room after several goblets of the blood wine, too many. Both of the Eurasian brothers’ laugh
