BECCA:

I was in the kitchen when I heard the door open, his scent wafted through my nostrils. Nadia stirred up inside of me, she had been quiet since the attack.

“Are you okay now, Veronica?” Alexander asked my mom, I heard him as I carried the hot porridge to the living room.

He sat beside her, watching as she shifted into a comfortable spot.

“Yeah, that's not the least he has done to me.” She chuckled to make the atmosphere less stuffed.

“Mom, you don't have to hide your emotions. Your mate came in here in the hopes to beat you and you're chuckling about it? No, you are supposed to curse him out!” My voice came out angrier than I thought. My mom was fond of protecting my dad, giving him excuses and thinking he hasn't done worse to her cause she was still breathing.

Assuming I and Alexander was one minute later, he would have killed her, and then I would remain an orphan. Yeah, I don't see him as a father anymore.

“Becca, don't talk ill of your father!” Mom snapped at me
