Chapter 56

Ava's POV

I led Alaric to my room, rubbing his back and smiling up at him as we went. I didn't like that he drank so much when he was in distress and for a moment I was sorry that I'd done something that could push him to drink. But I loved taking care of him and this afforded me the opportunity to do so and be around him so I figured it was all good in the end. I smiled, recalling how beautifully my plans had worked out.

I opened the door and pulled him inside, leading him to sit on the bed.

“I'll ring for Riya to bring the soup now okay?”

I'd have to learn to cook that chicken soup, I thought to myself. I didn't want anything that would make my man dependent on another woman.

I placed the call on the landline.

“Hello? Yes it's Ava. Please have Riya prepare a bowl of chicken soup for the prince. And tell her to bring it up quickly. Yeah, whatever.”

I hung up and turned to fuss over Alaric.

“I think you should change your shirt baby.” I mumbled as I inspected the rumpled shirt stained
