Chapter 95

Collette’s POV

"I'll do this alone," I said to Adrian and Martha, bearing huge grudges towards them both.

"We want to find Ava as much as you do, you know," Martha said, lowering her head unhappily.

I knew they were hurting, but I was in no mood to comfort them; they were the reason Ava was gone in the first place.

"If your ward had worked in the first place, we wouldn't have to be searching for her," I said in a cold voice. I wasn't planning to humor them; they messed up seriously, and they should know it.

"We didn't know it wouldn't work," Adrian said.

"That doesn't make Ava any less gone, does it?" I asked.

They lowered their heads, neither of them replying.

"Glad we have that settled; if that's all, I'm leaving to find her," I said to them.

"Let us come along," Adrian said.

"You would be of no use to me; as you know, those who captured her weren't humans. Therefore, I don't want to have to protect you when I should be rescuing Ava," I explained in the same cold voice.
