Having An Epiphany

I should have listened to the Mermaid Queen’s warning. After being deceived more than once in our first and only meeting, I thought that warning was to pull me into her mischief.

And I underestimated Phineas’s curiosity. The High Mage could get so child-like with possessions that could piqued his interest and I should have forced my way of grabbing that shell.

“I love you.”

However, the voice echoed in the hallway and it was loud enough for any mere human to hear. Varick stopped midway as his head turned.

Meanwhile the voice caught Phineas off-guard as he immediately switched off the shell. With his widened eyes as his jaw dropped, I knew I had some explanation to do.

“What was that?” Varick asked as soon as he returned. He eyed at the shell. “For some strange reason, I heard my own voice from your possession.”

It seemed he had no clue of this recording shell, seeing his confusion as his brows raised.

Phineas returned the shell back to me as he laughed, nervously. “Oh, my lord!
