Chapter 2

Zane was sitting in his office at the pack house. Tons of files lay before him, running his hand through his brown hair, he sighed in frustration.

As Alpha of the Hollow Springs Pack, it fell on him to handle all the paperwork, if only circumstances were different, he would have a Luna by his side. But, unfortunately that isn't going to happen anytime soon, he has long since given up on finding her.

He was thirty years old and had teenage twins, who was going to take that on or even forgive him and also take on the full time job of taking care of the basic needs of the pack.

Leaning back in his chair, he closed his eyes, hoping that the headache he felt coming on would go away, even for a little while...

Hearing a shuffling noise, Zane was instantly alert, with his wolfs hearing, he heard a sound near his desk. Standing cautiously up, he made his way around his desk, searching for the noise he had heard...

"Up!" A little voice exclaimed.

Stunned, Zane looked down, below him sat an angel, the cutest little girl he has ever seen. Not saying that his daughter Ellie wasn't beautiful at that young age, but this little girl was just as enchanting. Crouching down to her level, Zane smiled at the little girl, "So who might you be little one and where did you come from?" he queried, noting that the girl was human.

"Up!" The little girl demanded.

Laughing, Zane picked up the little girl, sniffing her scent, drawn to the smell of her, his wolf purring contently in his head, his headache gone. The little girl instantly latching onto his gold chain, tugging at it with her tiny little hands, "Easy there, little one," Zane said, pulling his chain out, giving the little girl easier access to his medallion, laughing as she put the medallion to her mouth, "You must be teething..." He murmured to himself, thinking that she must be young and wondering how she got in his office in the first place.

Whoever was in charge of this little girl had a lot of explaining to do on why they weren't taking their responsibilities seriously. When he gets a hold of them, they will be punished for being irresponsible, little kids should always be supervised.

Looking down at the little girl, he noted that she had fallen asleep, "You must be tired after your adventure little one." Tucking her securely to him, he made his way around the desk, carefully lowering himself into his chair, trying not to wake the sleeping child.

"Now...what am I going to do?" He asked himself, he knew he had to find the responsible person, but he and his wolf were unwilling to let go of this little angel. He felt content having her in his arms and that hadn't happened in a long time, not since the twins were small.

"Perhaps I should just wait and see...what harm it will do. Whoever is responsible for her is going to come looking for her and since I'm the Alpha, they are bound to come to me first." He pondered, liking that idea, sitting back contentedly and savoring this moment temporarily.

"Dad!" Ellie exclaimed from the doorway, "You have to help me!"

"What's wrong Ellie? What happened?" Zane asked, instantly alert at the alarmed tone of his daughter. Sitting up, trying not to wake up the little bundle in his arms, his wolf on high alert and becoming protective of his little charge.

"She's gone...!" Ellie cried out, "I've lost her...what am I going to do?"

"Who is gone?"

"Sofia."

"And who is Sofia?" Zane asked, watching his daughter pacing frantically around his office, noticing at that moment his son standing at the doorway, looking calm and collected.

"Um...Ellie." Jason tried to interject, finally moving from his spot, trying to get his sister's attention, while looking at his Dad with a smirk.

"What Jason? Can't you see that this is an emergency?" Ellie frantically cried, "What am I going to do? Jasmine is going to kill me, the one time she trusts me to look after her daughter and I lose her within minutes!"

"But..." Jason attempted again.

"No!" Ellie shouted.

Jason looked pleadingly at his father, Zane finally understood the reason as to why his son was calm, Ellie hadn't realized the little bundle in his arms and he was getting the impression that this little girl was Sofia, someone that Ellie was babysitting.

"Ellie...I need you to calm down." Zane spoke calmly and firmly.

Ellie hearing the authority in her father's voice, finally stopped pacing, looking pleadingly at him, only to realize the reason as to why everyone was calm, except her.

"Oh!"

"Yeah...Oh! Finally! Get with the program Sis." Jason joked, crossing his arms, leaning casually against the wall, smirking at his sister's downfall.

Ellie really wanted to swipe that smirk off Jason's face, but she was fixated on seeing her father hold little Sofia, it was an endearing sight.
