Fifty-Nine

Parker's P.O.V.

I rolled over, staring at Kaylee as she tried to fall asleep. She was exhausted on the walk home, but I knew the guilt of her newfound brother being stuck in the dungeons for the night didn't sit well with her and would keep her up.

No one had been able to reach her father or anyone from the Blood Moon Pack. Oliver was to remain in our custody until contact could be made. If there was no news by morning, Oliver would be sent back to his pack in an attempt to put a stop to the war. We just had to pray to the Goddess that Oliver was telling the truth.

It would help that Malcolm would be done with the blood test soon. His lab wasn't as high-tech as most, but he had what he needed and wouldn't have to take the time to mail it off like humans always had to.

Kaylee looked so stressed, her body was still tense, and she kept shifting, trying to find a way to get comfortable. She spent a solid twenty minutes inspecting my healed hand and face, wanting to see for herself that
