Chapter 36 - Overbearing fake mother-in-law!

They couldn’t discuss what they had found on the bus or even in Melody’s parent’s house, but they could all go out to the lake and talk about it there. Her friends loved the lake and although Matthew and Melody had to be careful not to show any kind of affection towards each other, they were at least able to talk. They spent the afternoon just basking in the glorious sunlight and swimming in the fresh cool water and the time went by way too fast. Before she knew it, it was time for them to go home and have dinner.

She would be going to dinner with Eli and his parents the next night and she drank every single moment with her friends and Matthew. She knew that these memories with her friends were the only thing that was going to get her through a night with Eli and his parents. These memories were going to be the only things to get her through all of this! She had to pretend to be falling in love with that bastard so she could convince him to tell her what the hell was going on.
