Chapter 11 - Broken up!

MY THROAT FELT incredibly dry and my eyes were feeling puffy. I slowly opened my eyes and tried to focus. I saw a figure standing near the window, but my throat was too dry to say anything. I could see I was in a hospital room, which was strange.

“Oh, Irina!” My mother’s voice forced its way through my muddled thoughts. “Are you thirsty? The doctor said you might be thirsty when you wake up. Oh, honey we were so worried!” My mother gushed and the figure near the window turned around to look at me. My father was right there beside my mom, and I blinked. Hunter! Hunter had been standing near the window. I took a sip of water and it burned as it ran down my throat.

“What happened?” My voice sounded hoarse and I tried to clear my throat while my parents took turns explaining what happened. I got some mysterious fever, but Hunter’s doctor saved my life.
