PHOENIX

'Dad put me down 'I laughed as my Dad picked me up, spinning me around wildly. The trees blurred as I spun, feverish joy bursting through me.

My Dad stopped, tickling my sides and I giggled. Nearby footsteps had us turning.

'stop you two. Dinner is ready' my mom walked in, furrowing her brows at my Dad and I. My Dad grabbed her, attacking her sides with tickles and her furrowed brows straightened out as she smiled and bursted into laughter.

When her laughter subsided, my Dad smiled at my Mom, entranced with her beauty. He rested his forehead on hers and leaned in with a twinkle in his eyes.

My eyes snapped open, the vivid memory washing over me. The rays of the sun assaulted my eyes as I took in my surroundings. My vision faded in and out, slightly clearing.

I sat up, raw pain shooting through me, forcing me back down. I breathed in, my tired eyes looking up. A regal midnight blue ceiling - designed to look like the sky after a rainy night - accosted my eyes.
