15. Another Stone Guardian
I stilled, incredulity streaming on my face at her brazen proposal.
"You dare to threaten me?" I derided, my eyes narrowing in disdain. Did she honestly think that she could intimidate me into accepting her pathetic deal?
My own stone pulsated on my neck, reacting to the anger coursing through my veins. Just like Romeo's black onyx stone, my stone is an extension of me. It serves to protect and amplify my powers and right now, it is channelling and amplifying my wrath. My skin tingled as my magic pooled, forming into a red halo behind me. The Alpha's bedroom was bathed in crimson light as my powers grew.
I smirked when I saw Lucy's face morphing in terror, her body cowering in fear.

Annabelle stood up and stared at the now gaping wall in astonishment. Her eyes traversed over the surface, where a one meter gap now exists. The wooden panel that mounted the television along with the wall behind it had slanted to the side, revealing a darkened and mysterious staircase. A hidden doorway is camouflaged behind the wooden panel, making it appear to be part of the wall. She couldn't discern a knob near the opening so she presumed there must be a concealed mechanism that opens and closes the secret entryway. "How on earth did you do that, Jughead?" I woke up the next morning groggy and grumpy. To be honest, I barely slept at all, having conversed almost the whole night with Romeo in my dream state and now I'm paying for it by waking up late. My alarm chimed, telling me it's almost noon and in less than an hour, I am to meet Stephen in town. Roman had asked me to drive Chucky to the packhouse, so I decided not to explain to Chucky that I'm going to be meeting Stephen. Even last night, with the exception of telling him an ex-boyfriend of mine trashed the apartment, I barely mentioned Stephen. It's better to let the past, stay buried in the past.
