46. Trav and Annabelle

I stayed in Romeo's bedroom for as long as I could. An hour later, I couldn't ignore the pang of hunger rumbling from my stomach. Apparently, mister I will keep you captive has forgotten all about me or maybe decided that I'm not worth feeding.
So I determined to take matters into my own hands, by heading to the kitchen.
A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do.
I still remembered the layout of the packhouse, my feet nimble as I bounded down the stairs and turned right to where the private kitchen is located. Similar to my previous visit, this side of the packhouse was empty, giving me respite from having to mingle and make small talk with others.
After my earlier episode with Romeo, I'm not feeling particularly hospitable. In fact, I'm feeling discomfited and irate.
With the current mood that I'm in, I'm pretty sure I would bite the head off anyone who dares cross my pat

Annabelle Aoki Trav had requested an item that could alert them of dark magic and magical traps, to assist them in their grand plan to take Nari down. Lucky for them,my late grandmother had a great selection of relics in her collection. I selected a rune that's easiest for them to use, no incantations needed. It's a small, pocket-sized rune, imbued with a revealing spell. To use it, Trav would just need to wave the rune in front of him, and should there be dark magic or magical traps nearby, it would be revealed for a limited time. I hope whatever it is that they're planning would be effective in stopping Nari. Physically, Romeo may be stronger than Nari but physical strength is not always necessary when you're using magic. Should things go south, I might have to step in and rescue Romeo and his friends. And if that happens, my true identity as the ruby stone guardian will, unfortunately, be revealed to Nari. "Annabelle! Oh my God, are you here for real?" I found myself wrapped in strong arms and enveloped by a familiar scent of cypress and mint, Stephen Wolfe. With everything that's been going on in the past few days, I realized guiltily that I have forgotten to check up on Stephen after escaping from Nari's creepy hidden chamber. Unable to help myself, I giggled like a teenage girl as relief washed over me, thankful to find he is in one piece, safe and alive. "Hey, I'm real," I replied softly. I gave him a wide grin after he had released me from his embrace and patted the empty seat beside me to which he eagerly took. "What happened to you the other day? I thought we were supposed to meet for coffee." I badgered, remembering it was Nari who showed up, pretending to be him. Nari's eyes widened in surprise when she saw me seated at the high table.She swiftly recovered and recomposed her expression. She must have thought that I would still be cursed and in my wolf form, weak because my human form was dying. Well, she thought wrong. "Did you miss me, Romeo?" Nari's soft, musical voice reverberated loudly against the now silent hall. A winsome smile decorated her face which previously would have tugged at my heartstrings. Now, it made me want to gag. Chaos descended into the hall. Pack warriors in human and wolf form tumbled through the door, swiftly reaching their targets. I could see the confusion plastered on the Wiccan Council's faces, identical to the ones on the Moonstone's pack. My nails elongated into claws and in the blink of an eye, I shifted in my seat and punched Sebastian's chest, my claws stabbing into his skin, earning an involuntary grunt. Thick, dark, crimson blood oozed from his torso and I grinned in satisfaction. "Did you really think it would be that easy, Sebastian?" I hissed, my black pupils changing into my wolf's irises of blue and green. He looked at me in terror, his head swiveling from the sight of his wounded chest to me, towering over him in full form. Annabelle Aoki Williams was the first to go down. With his white hair and wrinkled skin, it was obvious that he is the oldest among all the council members. His slow coordination caused him to be ata disadvantage and he wasn't able to fend off the synchronized attacks by the pack warriors and me, making his death a quick and clean affair. Raven was tougher to kill, her enchantment spell had affected a number of the pack warriors and they ended up attacking each other.Her move made me sloppy, instead of attacking her, I had to focus on separating the pack warriors that she enchanted and holding them off from killing each other. The secrets that I bear suddenly felt as if it was too heavy for me to keep, pushing beyond the boundaries of my chest, straining to be let out. I need to tell him the truth before it's too late.
