Chapter 50

Alpha Daniel’s POV

Adela’s funeral was a small affair. She had been away from the pack for so long that people had forgotten she even existed, they didn’t know what to do with her absence, and so Adela was left in the cold.

Whoever or whatever had killed her was smooth and professional, there was no sign of any evidence of foul play other than the bite mark on her neck. And it looked like an innocent bite from a bug.

The little girl Jade who usually played with Aurora had been sick for days now and I thought it was mandatory to stop by and check on her.

“Alpha Daniel” Her mother seemed surprised to see me as she got up immediately from the couch she was sitting on.

Her eyes looked tired, how shoulders slouched, how hands hung empty at her sides - she must have had another sleepless night.

Her eyes, usually so expressive when she wanted them to be - looked blank and devoid of life. Even after all these days, she still looked like a stranger.
