Cohen pushed Leonardo’s enforcers away and rushed to the window. Two snipers were stationed on the tallest cliff on the east part of his land. He grabbed Leonardo by the collar. The Council’s Enforcers stepped in but were stopped by Leonardo’s signal.
That was it. Mira stared at her mate attentively. Cohen had said it. He renounced his affiliation with the Council because of her. She glanced at Leonardo and saw his expression hardened. She probably didn’t expect Cohen to renounce right then and there. “Cohen,” Mira whispered. “What are you doing?” “I will submit an official letter to the Council within forty-eight hours from this moment. Now, you are no longer welcome on my territory,” he said, ignoring Mira as he faced Leonardo once more. “Take all your Enforcers and the snipers and leav

“Cohen.” Mira placed her hand on his shoulder. “The Council is preparing for war, isn’t it?”She heard the conversation but she wanted Cohen to confirm it for her. She wanted at least somebody to lie to her that the Council was just pulling their Enforcers for a routine. Not for a war.&nb
Cohen ordered his Enforcers to set up a temporary camp site and patrolling schedule to give time for Amanda to attend the wounded before moving them to his pack mansion. Cohen left the tent where Mira was admitted in to let her rest. The journey back to Cohen’s pack mansion would take two hours even if he shifted. With those survivors, he doubted he could make it a two-hour trip.
When he thought it would be rainbow the whole day, it turned out it was raining. Mira pushed him away again after the incident at the encampment. Her attitude turned cold and he didn’t know why. For days, Mira avoided being in the same room as him. When it was time for him to sleep, she would be out of the pack mansion, continuing her former life. They never had any meals together. She was avoiding him at all cost.
Mira opened her eyes and the familiar sense washed over her. She looked around at the simplicity of the room she was in. Slowly sitting herself, her body ached in every direction. She felt like she had been run over by a bulldozer. Her eyes perked by the sound of the water coming from the door across the room.A
For the next few days, planning, brainstorming and scouting all happened. Dozens of plans and contingencies were taken into consideration if they were to work together in hunting Damien. Cohen had established a team specifically to scout Damien’s last known location. The royal vampire wasn’t like the rest of his siblings. He had dark witches and a big army working for him, covering every possible track of their whereabouts. As tricky as he was, Mira knew sooner or later he would eventually make a mistake and reveal his own location.
He sat on the chair of his office, looking exhausted and lacking sleep. Meeting after meeting had been attended regarding the Southern Werewolves Pack but everything went back to square one again. The Defense Council dismissed the Councilors’ appeal to move Enforcers into the aforementioned pack territory. Sure the Council had ten times Enforcers than Alpha Cohen’s but they could not ignore the fact that the Kingsley family was the reason why the Council still remained strong and tall after decades of wars with the vampires.
