For some reason, my hand burns badly, almost as if to leave a black mark on my skin that won't go away. I frown, rubbing the spot as we walk down the hallway.

"I was never mad at you," I admitted softly.

"I was just extremely jealous, Mona." He looks at me, his eyes concerned. "I lost you once...and I never want to let go." He seems so sincere that I can't help but believe him.

"Were you completely serious about everything you said the day I met with the Council? I ask him honestly, surprised that I'm not even frustrated with him. I feel like I should be angry, but the emotion doesn't come when I catch him.
