Elijah’s POV

Elijah saw Alister come out of the front office, and their eyes briefly met before he looked away. He could feel the awkwardness between them, and he hated it.

He waited for Alister to get closer to him before he started walking towards the elders.

The elders packed their vehicle and climbed out as they both approached. When Elijah saw the elder whom the council had sent, he smiled.

At least they had sent the elder who was familiar with them and not someone else, even though something told him that these elders were not the right people to investigate the case.
