Chapter Sixty-Three

"You can't be serious," Kane said to her as he watched her pack her belongings. "Tell me that this is one big joke."

Kiera didn't answer him. She was determined and nobody would stop her from doing this. It wasn’t fair for him to die because of her. He had tried to help her and that landed him in a terrible place. Where that place was, she didn’t know. That was what she was hoping to find out.

“Kiera!”

Now she was torn. She didn’t know which option was better: talking or not talking. Simone was leaning against the doorframe and watching their exchange silently. Kiera wondered what she thought about the whole thing. Simone hadn’t said a word since she arrived with Kane. She would have to deal with the rented car and the damage done to it but she had to prioritize packing.
